,%20I%20still%20can't%20handle%20the%20spicy%20option%20anyway,%20haha.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20decided%20to%20make%20a%20big%20Patty%20Pie,%20a%20mild%20version%20of%20course.%20But%20mild%20in%20the%20level%20of%20spice,%20not%20the%20level%20of%20taste%20by%20the%20way!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20pastry%20made%20encases%20the%20whole%20pie%20and%20it%20is%20not%20that%20much%20different%20at%20all%20to%20shortcrust%20pastry%20-%20all%20you%20need%20is%20a%20bit%20of%20turmeric!%20(This%20was%20also%20the%20pastry%20I%20used%20to%20make%20my%20Sunshine%20Pies.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20mixed%20ginger%20and%20cumin%20with%20cinnamon%20to%20give%20the%20filling%20a%20bit%20of%20a%20sweeter%20taste%20to%20it,%20and%20used%20lamb%20instead%20of%20beef%20for%20a%20more%20interesting%20flavour.%20And%20instead%20of%20just%20pressing%20the%20pastry%20edges%20together%20in%20a%20haphazard%20way%20like%20I%20usually%20do,%20I%20crimped%20it%20with%20a%20fork%20to%20give%20it%20that%20special%20Patty%20look.%20Yum!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELamb%20Patty%20Pie%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20an%208%22%20pie%20dish%20(6%20slices):%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1)%20Mix%20the%20ginger,%20cumin,%20cinammon%20and%20oil%20with%20the%20lamb%20in%20a%20bowl%20and%20leave%20to%20marinade%20whilst%20you%20prepare%20the%20pastry.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2)%20Sift%20the%20flour%20into%20a%20large%20bowl%20with%20the%20turmeric.%20Rub%20the%20butter%20to%20a%20breadcrumb%20mixture.%20Gradually%20add%20in%20ice%20water%20to%20knead%20into%20a%20dough.%20Wrap%20and%20chill%20for%20half%20an%20hour.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3)%20Gently%20boil%20the%20carrot%20and%20parsnip%20for%2010-15%20minutes%20to%20soften.%20Drain.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4)%20Fry%20the%20marinated%20lamb%20in%20a%20pan%20with%20the%20onion.%20Add%20the%20babycorn,%20followed%20by%20the%20spring%20onion,%20carrot%20and%20parsnip.%20Allow%20to%20cool%20if%20possible.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E5)%20Roll%20out%202/3%20of%20the%20pastry%20onto%20a%20floured%20surface%20to%20line%20the%20bottom%20of%20your%20pie%20dish.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E6)%20Add%20the%20cooled%20filling,%20then%20roll%20out%20the%20remaining%20pastry%20to%20top%20your%20pie.%20Crimp%20the%20edges%20together%20with%20a%20fork%20and%20prick%20in%20the%20middle.%20Bake%20at%20200%20degrees%20for%2025-30%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPie%20out.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERead%20my%20other%20Friday%20Pie-Day%20adventures.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
