Receta Fried Green Tomatoes with Cajun Remoulade
Ever wondered how to make fried green tomatoes? This is my favorite fried green tomatoes recipe and I think you’ll love it, too! The cajun remoulade makes a great dip.
I am not a gardener.
I try really hard. I beg my husband to till up a big patch of grass for me every year. I spend a fortune on pretty flowers and juicy vegetables. Sometimes I even manage to get those plants out of their little containers and in to the ground that my husband tilled. Sometimes they just sit next to that patch of dirt and wither away.
Obviously, my husband doesn’t till for me anymore.
My kids don’t weed for me anymore either.
I’ve had a garden every year for the past 10 or so years and I think I’ve probably gotten, oh, one tomato out of the whole thing.
I’m ridiculous. I know.
It’s just that in the Spring, when everything is turning from drab and brown to gloriously green, the possibilities are endless. I could plant a garden! And follow through! I could become the type of person that enjoys getting her hands dirty while crawling around with spiders and centipedes with sticks poking out of my hair while getting my new gardening shoes just muddy enough to show that I try.
So, anyway, I planted another garden this year. Just a small one.
Our new house had this little 6 foot by 4 foot bed off the side of the shed that was begging for tomatoes.
I’m happy to report that, while weedy, each of the 6 plants are doing well. There are green tomatoes growing on a few of them and the rest are flowering. I fully expect a deer to come along and eat all my hard work at any moment, but in the meantime, I’m feeling pretty accomplished.
I couldn’t bring myself to pick a green tomato off of one of my own plants, but I did snag a few at the grocery store last week. My mama has been making me fried green tomatoes since I was a kid. I’m pretty obsessed and had to share my favorite recipe with you!
Have you ever tried them? They’re so tangy and juicy! I love the crispy, crunchy breading on these, too. If you like fried pickles, you’d probably like fried green tomatoes. They’re not the same, but they do have similar vibes.
I made a Cajun remoulade to dip mine in. It’s quick, easy, and packs a ton of flavor. Ranch dressing is good too, though.
