Receta Fruit Bagala Bath
Curd rice is often called as Bagala Bath amongst Tamil Brahmin community in South India.
Ingredients:
- Raw Rice – 2 cups
- Milk – 1/2 cup
- Thick Curd – 2 1/2 cup (should not be sour)
- Ginger – 1 tsp, minced
- Green Chilli Paste – 1 tsp
- Butter – 2 tblsp
- Asafoetida Powder – 1/4 tsp
- Coriander Leaves – few, chopped
- Curry Leaves – few
- Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
- Cashewnuts – 2 tblsp
- Dry Red Chillies – 3
- Pomegranate Seeds – 1 cup
- Green Grapes – 20
- Oil as required
- Salt as per taste
Method:
1. Pressure cook the rice till slightly mushy.
2. While it is still warm add salt, butter, asafoetida powder, ginger, green chilli paste, milk, curry leaves and coriander leaves.
3. Mix well.
4. Heat a little oil in a pan.
5. Fry the mustard seeds, dry red chillies and cashewnuts for 30 to 45 seconds.
6. Add to the rice along with curd.
7. Mix well.
8. Finally, add pomegranate seeds and grapes.
9. Mix again and serve.
Tip: You can also add grated carrot and raisins if desired.
