Receta Fruit & Yogurt Smoothie
I was recently asked if I eat dessert all the time. Well, during the week I follow a lower carb diet and leave the decadent desserts for the weekend...that's my free time where I do a little indulging! So what do I treat myself to during the week? A high protein fruit and yogurt smoothie! It's my go-to dessert because it satisfies my sweet tooth, it's healthy and I can whip it up in no time at all. I like to use greek yogurt for the high protein and make my own juice because I know it's 100%. Even though this recipe calls for apple juice I've used all kinds of different fruits and I've even juiced some veggies and used that too. I got my juicer from Williams-Sonoma and I love it; they have all kinds of juicers that you can choose from. Once you start juicing you'll be amazed at how many wonderful combinations you can come up with. I love this recipe, but my kids ask for it all the time too. It's a delicious way to get added protein, fruit and even veggies into their diet!
Ingredients are as follows:
- 1 C frozen berries
- 1/2 C greek yogurt
- 1 apple, juiced in a juicer
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- unsweetened almond milk
- *optional - sweetener (splenda, honey, agave)
Directions:
I like to get my ingredients together first.
Toss the berries, yogurt, apple juice, and vanilla into a cup or blender.
Add enough almond milk to cover.
Mix until smooth; taste to see if you need any sweetener. If so, add some in and mix again. If it's too thick, mix in more almond milk.
Serve and enjoy!
