Have you heard of the the Sabra spreads that are made with hummus? If you haven’t you HAVE to try them, they are really amazing! There are a few different flavors, and they certainly can make a boring sandwich taste like a gourmet sandwich!
I used to be that person that put mayonnaise on just about everything, but not anymore. And that can can put sandwiches on the dry and boring lunch list. These Sabra spreads are made with fresh ingredients and taste absolutely delicious – even better than mayonnaise, and they are much lower in calories (35 calories vs 100 per tablespoon).
Even though they all taste great, my favorite flavor is the honey mustard spread. When I first tasted it, it reminded me of a sandwich I had a few years ago at a local sandwich shop. It was called a garden gourmet sandwich and it had a spread that was made with a honey, mustard & mayonnaise combination. I think they called it musta-mayo.
After tasting the Sabra honey mustard spread, I decided to re-create the garden gourmet sandwich myself. I found a fresh loaf of sprouted whole wheat bread in my local market which was perfect to hold my creation together. I slathered each slice of bread with Sabra honey mustard spread and I started with a slice of yogurt cheese and continued layering vegetables on top of each other. It was just as I remembered it. These spreads really do take your sandwich from good to great. I’m wondering what Sabra spreads will do for deviled eggs – honey mustard + garlic herb?
