German Streusel Coffee Cake

Ingredientes

  • 1 pkt Active dry yeast
  • 1/4 c. Hot water
  • 1/2 c. Sugar plus 2 Tbsp.
  • 1/2 c. Butter or possibly margarine
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 c. Lowfat milk, scalded
  • 1 x Egg
  • 2 c. All purpose flour, (up to 2-3/4)
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon

Direcciones

  1. Soften yeast in hot water. In mixing bowl, combine 2 Tbsp. sugar, 1/4 c. butter, salt and lowfat milk. Cold to lukewarm. Add in egg and yeast.
  2. Gradually add in 2 to 2-1/4 c. flour to create a stiff dough, beating well after each addition. Cover; let rise in hot place till doubled, about 1 hour.
  3. Spread in well-greased 13 x 9-inch pan; cover. Let rise again in hot place till doubled, 30 to 45 min. Cut 14 c. butter into 12 c. flour, 12 c. sugar and cinnamon till the particles are the size of peas. Sprinkle over coffee cake. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 to 25 min, till golden. Drizzle hot coffee cake with Vanilla Glaze (posted).
