Gift your New Neighbors with a Personalized Doormat and Butter Pecan Ice Cream Bread When we built our home 36 years ago, my husband’s brother built right next door to us and my cousin built next door to him. Talk about a family affair. My brother-in-law and his wife divorced and their house has changed owners several times. My cousin’s house is now under new ownership for the 4th time but we still refer to the home as “Norris’ house” amongst family. Disclaimer; I received a product to use in this post. Most of the time our garage door is up and everyone enters our home that way. However, the front entry needed a little TLC so that’s where I started. The doormat was worn and faded so out it went. In its place, we have this Personalized Door Mat from Gifts For You Now. I love this! Isn’t it neat how the O in home is the shape of the state we live in? Look at the bottom with our name, city, and state. Now that’s what I call personalized! The deck needed some color and these sun-loving petunias and marigolds fit the bill. My hostas are getting a little out of hand but they are pretty as is the thin line buckthorn which has really grown in the last couple of years. The backyard looks calm in this picture but it was a much different scene over the weekend. Five grandkids plus a host of cousins and fireworks and it was all the way live!!! Years ago, welcoming new neighbors with a basket of goodies was the norm. I decided to experiment with a different ice cream bread before in preparation of gifting our new neighbors. I used my Strawberry Ice-Cream Bread recipe and substituted butter pecan ice cream for the strawberry. Ingredients 4 cups (quart) Butter Pecan Ice cream, softened (or ice cream of your choice) 3 cups self-rising flour 4 TBS butter, melted 3 TBS light brown sugar Instructions Preheat oven to 350° F and prepare 2 8x4 in loaf pans. Mix softened ice cream and flour together either in a stand mixer or by hand until well combined. Pour batter into prepared pans and spread out evenly. Pour melted butter over top of the batter and sprinkle with the light brown sugar. Bake for 40-45 mins until top is golden brown.
