.%20It%E2%80%99s%20a%2016-minute%20solo%20short%20piece%20about%20a%20tightrope%20walker%20who%E2%80%99s%20trying%20to%20gather%20the%20courage%20to%20walk%20the%20wire%20after%20having%20lost%20her%20partner/husband%20only%20days%20before.%20There%E2%80%99s%20no%20way%20I%20could%20fully%20explain%20how%20much%20this%20piece%20has%20meant%20over%20the%20course%20of%20these%206%20years%20as%20I%E2%80%99ve%20performed%20it%20in%205%20productions:%20it%E2%80%99s%20the%20kind%20of%20piece%20that%20an%20actor%20rarely%20gets%20to%20call%20their%20own,%20and%20Bird%20grows%20with%20every%20year%20and%20every%20hundreds%20of%20experiences%20I%20go%20through%20as%20a%20person.%20By%20the%20end%20of%20those%2016%20minutes%20I%E2%80%99ve%20gone%20through%20a%20delicious%20range%20of%20emotions%20and%20am%20spent,%20sometimes%20to%20the%20point%20of%20near%20vomiting.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20could%20say%20it%E2%80%99s%20nerve-wracking%20to%20be%20on%20a%20small%20platform%20alone%20without%20an%20actor%20to%20share%20the%20performance%20with.%20But%20the%20older%20I%20get%20the%20less%20I%20worry%20about%20a%20memorable%20performance%20or%20%E2%80%9Cwowing%E2%80%9D%20anyone.%20I%20care%20more%20about%20connecting%20with%20the%20words,%20the%20character,%20the%20writer,%20my%20director%20and%20the%20joy%20that%20is%20many%20eyes%20upon%20me%20as%20I%20step%20onto%20that%20platform%20alone%20and%20just%20talk.%20I%E2%80%99m%20completely%20unable%20to%20see%20the%20audience%20in%20front%20of%20me%20because%20of%20the%20blast%20of%20the%20spotlight%20a%20foot%20away.%20But%20I%20can%20sense%20them,%20and%20hear%20their%20reaction%20to%20points%20of%20humor%20or%20sarcasm%20or%E2%80%A6%20at%20the%20end%E2%80%A6%20my%20complete%20terror%20and%20anguish.%20And%20I%20could%20never%20describe%20my%20gratitude%20at%20the%20sighs,%20applause,%20%E2%80%9Cbravos%E2%80%9D%20and%20%E2%80%93%20once%20%E2%80%93%20%E2%80%9Churrah%E2%80%9D%20that%20comes%20when%20that%20spotlight%20goes%20down.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThere%E2%80%99s%20really%20nothing%20like%20it.%20I%20love%20those%20opportunities.%20And%20I%20am%20so%20thankful%20that%20now%20and%20then%20I%20get%20to%20live%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20spent%20this%20past%20weekend%20far%20from%20my%20kitchen%20at%20work,%20my%20kitchen%20at%20home,%20my%20dog%20and%20(for%20the%20most%20part)%20a%20computer.%20I%20stretched,%20I%20slept,%20I%20worked%20with%20my%20much-loved%20director,%20I%20dissected%20pages%20of%20text%20and%20made%20sure%20my%20body%20could%20keep%20up%20with%20the%20story%20while%20on%20stage%20looking%20out,%20blinded%20by%20light.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EClockwise%20from%20top%20left:%20sign%20at%20the%20beach,%20tech%20rehearsal,%20the%20view%20from%20my%20room,%20the%20empty%20streets%20after%20the%20last%20show%20closed,%20the%20farewell%20season%20banner,%20bouys%20in%20the%20cold.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPinterest%20Contest%20%E2%80%93%20Baking%20with%20Love%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20post%20is%20a%20little%20late,%20because%20while%20I%20had%20planned%20to%20pen%20it%20over%20the%20weekend%20on%20my%20luxuriously%20quiet%20days%20before%20the%20shows,%20I%20came%20down%20with%20an%20upper%20respiratory%20infection%20and%20had%20to%20put%20all%20focus%20on%20muscling%20through%20the%20performances%20and%20my%20drive%20home.%20So%20this%20is%20a%20little%20late,%20but%20still%20full%20of%20love.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20don%E2%80%99t%20normally%20do%20sponsored%20posts.%20But%20I%20actually%20like%20and%20use%20both%20of%20these%20products,%20so%20when%20asked%20to%20do%20a%20post%20with%20King%20Arthur%20Flour%20and%20Pete%20and%20Gerry%E2%80%99s%20eggs,%20I%20said%20%E2%80%9Cyes%E2%80%9D%20with%20confidence.%20I%20love%20Pete%20and%20Gerry%E2%80%99s%20eggs%20because%20they%E2%80%99re%20free-range,%20organic,%20from%20somewhat%20nearby%20and%20rather%20affordable.%20Though%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20often%20use%20flour%20blends%20King%20Arthur%20is%20my%20go-to%20gluten-full%20flour.%20And%20when%20it%20comes%20to%20using%20a%20blend,%20I%20love%20that%20there%E2%80%99s%20does%20not%20include%20xanthan%20gum%20%E2%80%93%20which%20is%20a%20plus%20in%20my%20book.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20I%20had%20intended%20to%20do%20something%20pink%20and%20heart-full%20and%20sweet%20for%20this%20contest,%20and%20I%20may%20do%20another%20by%20the%20due%20date,%20but%20performing%20and%20cold%20and%20what-not%20had%20me%20doing%20something%20simple%20and%20rich%20and%20warming.%20There%E2%80%99s%20something%20I%20adore%20about%20a%20quick-bread%20recipe.%20The%20fact%20that%20it%E2%80%99s%20two%20bowls%20and%20no%20electronics.%20The%20fact%20that%20a%20basic%20ratio%20is%20endlessly%20adaptable.%20The%20fact%20that%20it%20can%20be%20a%20loaf%20or%20a%20muffin.%20I%20love%20quick-breads.%20And%20this%20one%20tastes%20even%20better%20on%20day%20two,%20and%20day%20three.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20now,%20to%20quote%20Meg%20Ryan%20(who%20looked%20way%20more%20adorable%20with%20her%20cold%20in%20You%E2%80%99ve%20Got%20Mail%20than%20I%20do%20
