Ingredientes

  • 2 med yellow onions peeled, and coarsely minced
  • 2 Tbsp. bacon drippings, butter, or possibly margarine
  • 1 x ham hock
  • 1 lb yellow split peas washed, sorted
  • 3 quart water
  • 1/8 tsp rosemary
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly-grnd black pepper

Direcciones

  1. Stir-fry onions in drippings 5 to 8 min in a large saucepan over moderate heat till pale golden brown. Add in ham and stir-fry 5 min. Add in remaining ingredients, cover, and simmer 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Serve steaming warm with butterychunks of garlic bread.
  2. This recipe yields 8 to 10 servings.
