Ingredientes

  • 1 kg (4 c.) whole wheat flour
  • 250 gm (1 c.) butter
  • 250 gm (1 c.) dark brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 tsp Cream of tartar
  • 1 x Lightly beaten egg
  • 125 ml (1/2 c.) warm water

Direcciones

  1. Cut butter into flour till mix is like coarse meal. Add in all remaining ingredients, but only sufficient water to make dough into pastry consistency.
  2. Roll out on a floured surface until very thin (about 3 mm [1/8"] to 6 mm
  3. [1/4"] thick). Cut into small squares, depending on what size you prefer.
  4. Bake on*unoiled* baking sheets till golden, about 15 min. Cold on rack.
  5. Yield: 2 dozen. These crackers are very popular in the US for babies, but I have never seen them in the UK. They are delicious spread with cream cheese and apricot preserves-or possibly strawberry, or possibly red currant jelly, etc.
