Receta Grandpa's Fruit Bars

- In small bowl combine raisins, dates and liqueur.
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- In large bowl beat butter, both sugars, whole egg, egg white and vanilla till light and fluffy.
- Add in cinnamon, nutmeg, orange peel, flour, baking soda till thoroughly blended. Add in nuts and macerated fruit. Dough will be sticky.
- Using well floured hands or possibly back of spoon, press dough into foil lined 10 x 15 inch jelly roll pan.
- Mix yolk and the water. With pastry brush, brush yolk on dough.
- Bake 20-25 min till dough is light golden brown. Cold 10 min, then cut into 1 x 2 inch squares. Yields 75 bars.
