Granny Greek's Swiss Steak

Ingredientes

  • 2 pound tenderized round steak, 3/4" thick
  • Salt & pepper
  • Flour for coating
  • Oil for browning
  • 2 (28 ounce.) cans whole tomatoes, minced
  • 1 (6 ounce.) can tomato paste
  • 1 med. onion, minced
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (opt.)

Direcciones

  1. In Dutch oven or possibly deep pan with cover, add in well minced tomatoes, tomato paste, minced onions and water. Slowly cook on low heat while preparing steak pcs. Wipe meat and cut into serving size pcs, about 2" x 3 1/2". Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Firmly press flour on both sides of each piece. Brown each piece in warm oil and drain. Add in liquid removed pcs to tomato and onion mix, turn to simmer and cook 40 to 60 min, stirring occasionally. Serves 6.
