,%20and%20I%20know%20I'm%20guilty%20of%20taking%20lots%20of%20things%20for%20granted,%20my%20senses%20of%20smell%20and%20taste%20being%20high%20on%20the%20list.%20As%20someone%20whose%20life%20centers%20around%20food%20in%20many%20ways,%20those%20are%20two%20very%20important%20things!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20won't%20call%20it%20a%20resolution,%20but%20something%20I've%20been%20trying%20to%20do%20this%20year%20is%20pick%20and%20photograph%20one%20thing%20each%20day%20for%20which%20I'm%20grateful.%20There%20are%20no%20rules--I'm%20choosing%20things%20as%20significant%20as%20my%20significant%20other%20to%20as%20mundane%20as%20toilet%20paper.%20I've%20posted%20a%20few%20on%20my%20Instagram,%20mostly%20as%20a%20way%20to%20hold%20myself%20accountable.%20So%20far,%20I%20think%20this%20little%20project%20has%20helped%20my%20attitude%20in%20general%20and%20seems%20to%20make%20me%20stop%20and%20truly%20appreciate%20things%20that%20sometimes%20go%20overlooked.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo,%20after%20about%20a%20week%20of%20being%20stuffed%20up%20and%20whiny%20puny,%20I'm%20finally%20over%20a%20pesky%20cold%20and%20can%20taste%20again!%20To%20celebrate%20the%20return%20of%20my%20senses%20(in%20more%20ways%20than%20one),%20I%20made%20a%20cake%20that%20has%20been%20on%20my%20to-bake%20list%20for%20a%20long%20time,%20for%20obvious%20reasons.%20Well%20hello%20there,%20cinnamon!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhat%20we%20have%20here%20is%20a%20poke%20cake,%20which%20means%20that%20after%20the%20cake%20is%20baked,%20lots%20of%20holes%20are%20poked%20into%20it%20and%20a%20deliciously%20rich%20and%20luscious%20mixture%20is%20drizzled%20into%20those%20holes,%20seeping%20into%20the%20depths%20of%20the%20cake%20and%20make%20it%20taste%20even%20better%20and%20have%20an%20even%20more%20wondrous%20texture.%20Then,%20as%20if%20that%20weren't%20decadent%20enough,%20the%20whole%20thing%20is%20topped%20with%20frosting!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20disapprove%20of%20the%20use%20of%20cake%20mix%20in%20the%20recipe,%20I'm%20sorry.%20Like%20I%20said,%20I've%20been%20puny;%20feel%20free%20to%20make%20one%20from%20scratch%20if%20you%20prefer!%20In%20this%20instance,%20the%20mix%20results%20in%20a%20moist%20yet%20fluffy%20cake%20that%20gets%20rippled%20with%20buttery%20cinnamon%20goo%20and%20topped%20with%20a%20slightly%20thinner%20and%20just-as-tasty%20layer%20of%20cream%20cheese%20frosting.%20It's%20SO%20satisfying.%20I've%20never%20used%20sweetened%20condensed%20milk%20in%20a%20frosting,%20but%20I%20liked%20the%20super%20creamy%20results!%20You're%20supposed%20to%20store%20this%20in%20the%20fridge,%20so%20I%20recommend%20knocking%20the%20chill%20off%20a%20bit%20with%20a%20very%20short%20stint%20in%20the%20microwave%20before%20digging%20in!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECinnamon%20Roll%20Poke%20Cake%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBased%20on%20this%20recipe%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMakes%2012%20servings%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20350%20degrees%20F.%20Grease%20a%209x13-inch%20baking%20dish;%20set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20large%20bowl,%20mix%20together%20cake%20mix,%20eggs,%20milk,%20water,%20and%20butter%20until%20combined,%202%20minutes%20or%20so.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20batter%20into%20prepared%20baking%20dish.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20for%2020-30%20minutes,%20or%20until%20a%20toothpick%20inserted%20in%20the%20center%20comes%20out%20clean.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20the%20cake%20is%20baking,%20stir%20together%20the%20melted%20butter,%20brown%20sugar,%20condensed%20milk,%20cinnamon,%20and%20vanilla%20extract;%20set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUsing%20the%20handle%20of%20a%20wooden%20spoon%20(or%20similar%20instrument),%20poke%20lots%20of%20holes%20in%20the%20cake.%20I%20made%20about%2040,%20but%20I%20think%20more%20would%20be%20even%20better!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20filling%20mixture%20over%20warm%20cake,%20gently%20spreading%20as%20necessary.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELet%20cake%20cool%20to%20room%20temperature.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20make%20the%20frosting,%20beat%20together%20cream%20cheese%20and%20butter%20until%20combined.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20powdered%20sugar%20and%201%20tablespoon%20condensed%20milk.%20Beat%20together%20until%20well-combined.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20in%20additional%20condensed%20milk%20and%20vanilla%20to%20desired%20consistency.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpread%20frosting%20over%20room%20temperature%20cake.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEnjoy%20warm,%20at%20room%20temperature,%20or%20chilled,%20and%20be%20sure%20to%20cover%20and%20chill%20any%20leftovers.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
