Receta Guiltless Sweet Potato Fries
My dear husband pointed out that I've left my blog unattended for several days. It's time for a full confession: My name is Lois; food is my love language, and sometimes, I love myself too much.
I've been dieting, eating some boring, sensible meals - certainly nothing worth blogging about. Tonight I tried kicking sensible up a notch with fat-free french fries.
The final verdict: very satisfying, as sensible food goes.
Ingredients
- 1/2 large sweet potato, peeled
- 1 egg white
- salt and pepper (still being sensible, I used No-Salt, a sodium-free salt substitute)
Directions
Preheat oven to 450. Cut potato into thin french fry strips. In a bowl, whisk egg white until foamy. Whisk in salt and pepper. Toss potato strips in egg white until coated. Place potatoes on a parchment covered baking sheet, keeping them as separate as possible. Bake for 30 minutes.
Note: I turned the heat down to 350 about 8 minutes before the baking time was up. Some of the thinner pieces were getting "nice and brown" as my mother would say about burnt food.
Serves 1 - 2
Potatoes - ready for the oven.
