Halloween Activity: Caramel Apples

You guys know me…I’m all about the healthy recipes. Even when the most candy-laden holiday of the year rolls around, I make a valiant attempt at keeping things light, like with the Devilish Avocado Sriracha Deviled Eggs that I posted yesterday. But you know what? Sometimes a girl just needs to indulge in something really naughty at Halloween.

I confess that I had never before made a caramel apple. There should be some of rule against that. So, when Harry & David’s Halloween Caramel Apple Kit arrived at my doorstep, I was pretty excited. In fact, my boys and I broke into a Halloween celebration dance. I’m happy to say that was not caught on video.

The kit itself is a sight to behold…cool “Spells & Incantations” box, funny directions and the most important part – shiny red apples, caramels, mini chocolate candies, salted cashews and sticks for the caramel apples. Everything you need in one adorable package. This would make a great Halloween gift for kids!

My kids and I pulled everything out of the box and laid out the ingredients, then set to work. I captured our caramel apple making adventure in photos. The eating came later in relative silence to enjoy every single bite of those glorious apples!

Head over to the Harry & David blog to check it out.
