Receta Ham Mushroom and Cheese Quiche
This year I have challenged myself to make 12 recipes in 2014, that I have never made before. On my list was to make a Quiche. Why I have never made a quiche before...I really don't know. My good blogging friend Cindy from Just North Of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard left a comment saying that I needed to try her recipe for Ham, Mushroom and Cheese Quiche. Cindy assured me this was The Best quiche recipe and boy was she right! My hubby and I loved it! This recipe was easy to make and very tasty. This quiche would make a delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner. It also was delicious reheated the next day! Now I can check quiche off my list:)
Thanks Cindy for this great quiche recipe, one I will be making over and over again~
Ham, Mushroom and Cheese Quiche~
9" pie shell (deep dish)
- 6 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup shredded cheese (I used Gouda)
- 1 cup chopped ham
- 4 oz can sliced mushrooms, drained
- 1 cup half & half
- 2 T. minced onion
- 1/2 t salt (can omit)*
- 1/2 t dry mustard*
- 1/4 t pepper*
- *I used 1 t. Mrs. Dash garlic and herb seasoning blend,
- in place of the salt, pepper, and dry mustard
Brush pie shell with a little of the beaten eggs; prick bottom and sides of crust with fork. Bake in a preheated 450 oven for 5 minutes; remove. Reduce oven heat to 375; mix remaining ingredients and pour into pie shell. Bake for 30-45 minutes or until knife inserted in middle comes out clean. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. *Cover edges of filled pie shell with a foil strip to avoid excess browning. Remove foil the last 10 minutes of baking.
Health Note: Pork is a good food source of iron. Iron helps build red blood cells to carry oxygen through the body~
