Receta Happy Birthday, Singapore!
Here is the recipe
for the red part of the flag
- 1 cup Water
- 40g Sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp Agar agar powder
- 1 pandan leaf - rinse and tie into a small knot
- a few drops of red colouring
- for the white part of the flag
- 1 cup Water
- 40g Sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp Agar agar powder
- 1 pandan leaf - rinse and tie into a small knot
- 3 tbsp fresh milk
Boil water, sugar, agar agar powder and pandan leaf together and keep stirring constantly for 2-3 minutes at medium heat.
Pour 60ml agar agar liquid into plate and refrigerate agar agar to set for about 10 mins.
Place remaining agar agar liquid under a double boiler and add few drops of red colouring into, mix well.
Using a small knife to scratch on the plain agar agar after set.
Then pour the red colouring agar agar liquid on it and place in refrigerator for 15-20 minutes.
Remove the red agar agar jelly from plate and prepare the white part of the flag.
Pour some white agar agar liquid into a small plate and leave to set for about 5 - 10 minutes.
Using a small star cookie cutter to cut out 5 stars and an oval shape cookie cutter to cut out a half moon shape.
Gently put the red and white agar agar jelly side by side and place the half moon shaped and stars jellies on top of the red part of the flag.
