Hazelnut Shortbread

Ingredientes

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup or honey
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 1/4 cups finely chopped hazelnuts
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Direcciones

  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the syrup and vanillla
  3. Add the flour
  4. Mix just until combined
  5. Fold in the nuts
  6. Shape into two 1 1/2 inch rolls
  7. Wrap each in plastic wrap
  8. Refrigerate for 2 hours or until firm
  9. Unwrap the dough
  10. Cut into 1/4 inch slices
  11. Place 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets
  12. Bake at 325 F for 14-16 minutes or until the edges begin to brown
  13. Remove to wire racks to cool completely
  14. Melt the chocolate chips
  15. Drizzle over the cookies
  16. Let stand until the chocolate is set
