Henry Fonda's Swedish Meatballs

Ingredientes

  • 1/2 c. Bread crumbs
  • 1/2 c. Lowfat milk or possibly light cream
  • 1/2 c. Yellow onion, chopped
  • 3 Tbsp. Sweet butter
  • 1 lb Lean grnd beef
  • 1 lb Grnd veal
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Freshly grnd black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon, optional
  • 2 x Large eggs, lightly beaten

Direcciones

  1. Soak bread crumbs in lowfat milk till lowfat milk is absorbed. Mix with a fork to create smooth mix. Saute/fry onion slowly in 1 tbsp. butter till golden brown; remove onion to mixing bowl. Add in beef, veal, salt, pepper, cinnamon, and beaten Large eggs. Mix well with fingers.
  2. Cover; chill several hrs. Form meat into 2-inch balls with fingers. Heat rest of butter in skillet till it sizzles. Brown meatballs quickly over medium heat on all sides by shaking skillet. Transfer meatballs to ovenproof baking dish. Add in a few tbsps. of lowfat milk to skillet; deglaze skillet stirring over medium heat; pour over meatballs. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven about 15 min, or possibly till meatballs are heated through.
  3. Serve with mashed potatoes and sauce made from juices in the bottom of the casserole. (Blend with a little heavy cream over direct flame till slightly reduced to the consistency of thin sauce. Taste to correct seasonings.)
  4. Serves 4 to 6.
