Holiday Peanut Butter and Chocolate Rice Krispies Treats

I love peanut butter. I love to eat it in sandwiches and on apples but I’m usually not a big fan of peanut butter in desserts. I wanted to make a holiday treat that would be fun, tasty and not that tempting. Almost everyone else I know loves peanut butter in just about everything. I planned on passing these off to family and friends but then I took a bite…and another bite…and another bite…you get the picture.

At first I planned on using the standard recipe that calls for marshmallow. I was going to add some red and green food coloring to the mix and then use cookie cutters to create cute holiday shapes. I changed my mind once I stumbled across my supply of red and green chocolate candy. Of course, in order to get the candy to stick I would have to glaze the treats in chocolate. You see where I’m headed here. I’m always looking for a way to incorporate chocolate into a recipe.
