Home Canned Apple Pie Filling

Ingredientes

  • 10 c. water
  • 4 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 or possibly 3 drops yellow food coloring (opt.)
  • 5 1/2 lbs. apples, peeled, cored & sliced
  • 3 T lemon juice

Direcciones

  1. In large saucepan blend sugar, cornstarch, nutmeg and salt. Stir in 10 cups water. Cook and stir till it comes to a boil to thicken. Add in lemon juice and food coloring. Remove from heat. Fill jars to the neck with apples. Add in hot thickened syrup to the neck. Add in lids and process in hot water bath for 20 min.Makes seven qts.
