Receta Honey Butter...Truly The Best...
by Nan Slaughter

It's not just honey and butter. It's more. It's so good you could give it as a gift...no, wait, it's too good to give away, you'll see, one taste...one little finger dipped and licked...you'll be hooked. Is it wrong to eat honey butter with a spoon? No bread/toast/muffins/biscuits/scones/pancakes/waffles...straight out of the jar with a spoon...how could that ever be wrong?!

While waiting for my kids to arrive last night I whipped up a batch of Sticky Date Pudding, our very favorite Christmas dessert...as you can see from the pic above, things didn't go according to plan! The house was filled with black smoke from the fire in the oven...doors were opened and the temperature inside took a dive. After removing as much of the pudding as I could, I hit the "self-clean" button and for the next four hours we had the pleasure of smelling the ghostly remains of everything that's ever been baked in the history of my oven...the house reeked and it still does! The moral of the story here is this: Don't leave home with something in the oven! The other pic is of the "snowman cave" I made for Max...I removed everything from the closet in our guest room and made him a bed in there...I did my best to make it look nice, worried that he wouldn't like it but he did!! My kids set out on their 13 hour drive at 10:00 in the morning...which should have put them here at 11:00 at night...they didn't arrive until 4:00 am... A.M.!!! The roads were clear, no snow, no ice...don't even ask, there is no answer, they are just S L O W!!! So while they slept in I made this amazing Honey Butter and cream scones for breakfast - or lunch!

This recipe was given to me by Joni Flaker...last week Joni made the most amazing garlic bread - with a secret ingredient that puts it out of the league from any other garlic bread (I'll give you that recipe soon!) and as we were talking about other "good things to eat" (my favorite conversation) she mentioned this Honey Butter...and by mention I mean she said, "Just mix butter, powdered sugar, marshmallow cream and powdered sugar together, that's it!" I grabbed a pen and paper and wrote it down and asked if everything was in equal parts and she said, "Sure, why not!?" Like it was nothing. Like it was a recipe for dirt. Joni didn't realize she was giving me probably the most delicious part of this years Christmas breakfast!! And if you make this for Christmas it will be the most delicious part of YOUR Christmas breakfast, too! Consider this my gift to you...Merry Christmas!

Put all ingredients into a bowl and whip with a hand mixer until completely combined. Scoop into a pretty Christmasy jar, one from Rome, Italy, if you happen to have one (!) and enjoy on scones hot from the oven, or toast or whatever tickles your fancy. Makes about 1 1/2 cups.

The honey butter looks runny, but it's only because it was put onto hot scones...so, so good!
