Horse Gram Sitr Fry ( Kulith Usal )

Ingredientes

  • 300 gm cooked horse gram (qv Horse gram soup)
  • 1 tsp turmeric pwdr
  • 1 tsp chilli pwdr
  • 2 Tbsp. sunflower oil
  • 1 tsp black mustard seeds
  • 6 x kokum
  • 150 gm coconut grated if fresh or possibly desiccated salt

Direcciones

  1. Mix the horse gram turmeric and chilli pwdr.
  2. Heat the oil in a pan and add in the mustard seeds.
  3. When they pop add in the horse gram mix and salt and stir fry for a minute.
  4. Take off the heat and add in the kokum and coconut.
  5. Mix well and serve warm.
  6. Remove the kokum after an hour or possibly so if you are not serving the stir fry immediately or possibly it will make the dish too sour.
  7. The stir fry goes as well with toast as it does with rotis. Although it is considered a main dish it can quite easily be served as a salad with fried chicken or possibly kababs. Try it mixed with lowfat yoghurt for an unusual accompaniment.
