- In a large 6 qt vessel (preferably granite) combine the first 7 ingredients; place on medium heat till almost to the boiling point. Stir frequently.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 hour. Add in the color. This beverage can be kept warm till serving time or possibly reheated when needed.
- Just before serving, when the tea has been transferred to the heated punch bowl or possibly other heated vessel, add in the ginger ale or possibly 7 Up (10 ounces per 1 1/2 qts).
