%20and%20they%20always%20have%20the%20regular%20stuff%20you%20might%20be%20looking%20for,%20and%20it%20is%20always%20impeccably%20fresh.%20And%20they%20send%20great%20e-mails%20when%20they%20have%20special%20stuff.%20They%20also%20have%20what%20appears%20to%20be%20delightful%20ready%20to%20eat%20or%20heat%20and%20eat%20options,%20which%20since%20I%20like%20to%20do%20it%20myself,%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20take%20advantage%20of,%20but%20one%20of%20these%20days%20I%20am%20sure%20I%20will,%20because%20it%20all%20looks%20delicious.%20They%20are%20always%20willing%20to%20chat%20about%20whatever%20idea%20I%20have%20come%20up%20with%20that%20particular%20evening,%20and%20will%20help%20out%20with%20any%20particular%20requests%20I%20might%20have.%20I%20love%20having%20them%20in%20the%20neighborhood.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20wandered%20in%20there%20the%20other%20day%20with%20a%20recipe%20for%20salmon%20sashimi%20in%20mind,%20and%20left%20with%20some%20lovely%20salmon%20cut%20in%20thin%20slices%20for%20me%20by%20the%20ladies.%20The%20recipe%20called%20for%201/8%20inch%20thick%20slices,%20which%20is%20really%20really%20thin.%20I%20think%20the%20only%20way%20that%20might%20have%20been%20possible%20would%20be%20to%20cut%20them%20right%20off%20the%20whole%20filet%20with%20a%20really%20sharp,%20thin-blade%20knife.%20I%20am%20not%20giving%20up%20on%20that%20possibility,%20but%20in%20the%20meantime,%20the%201/4%20inch%20slices%20that%20I%20ended%20up%20with%20worked%20just%20fine.%20Thanks%20for%20the%20help%20Liz%20and%20Keri!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20recipe%20comes%20together%20really%20easily,%20and%20says%20it%20will%20serve%20four%20as%20an%20appetizer.%20I%20ate%20it%20by%20myself%20and%20called%20it%20dinner.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFirst%20things%20first,%20the%20salmon%20gets%20marinated%20in%20soy%20sauce%20for%20a%20minute.%20Literally,%20one%20minute,%20then%20you%20drain%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Emarinated%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20fish%20gets%20laid%20out%20on%20a%20plate%20and%20sprinkled%20with,%20in%20my%20case,%20ginger%20and%20scallions.%20It%20is%20supposed%20to%20be%20ginger%20and%20chives%20but%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20have%20any.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Esprinkled%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20you%20mix%20a%20little%20bit%20more%20soy%20sauce%20with%20the%20juice%20of%20a%20lime%20and%20an%20orange,%20while%20you%20heat%20sesame,%20olive%20and%20canola%20oils%20for%20about%20two%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20you%20are%20ready%20to%20eat%20you%20pour%20the%20hot%20oil%20over%20the%20top%20of%20the%20fish,%20and%20then%20follow%20with%20the%20soy%20citrus%20mixture.%20That%E2%80%99s%20it.%20Dinner%20is%20served.%20And%20it%20is%20awesome.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Edinner%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20tasted%20a%20lot%20of%20soy%20sauce%20(use%20low-sodium%20or%20it%20will%20border%20on%20overwhelming)%20and%20the%20oil%20seemed%20like%20it%20would%20be%20too%20much,%20but%20wasn%E2%80%99t.%20This%20felt%20luxurious%20but%20only%20cost%20me%20about%20$5.%20And%20it%20came%20together%20in%20minutes.%20If%20I%20want%20it%20to%20feel%20more%20like%20dinner,%20next%20time%20I%20will%20serve%20the%20fish%20over%20rice%20stick%20or%20bean%20thread%20noodles%20for%20a%20little%20bit%20of%20substance.%20And%20perhaps%20I%20will%20add%20either%20red%20pepper%20flakes%20(probably%20to%20the%20oil)%20or%20sriracha%20(to%20the%20soy%20citrus%20sauce)%20for%20a%20little%20heat.%20I%20suspect%20if%20you%20have%20friends%20that%20like%20sushi,%20they%20will%20be%20really%20impressed%20by%20this%20oh%20so%20simple%20appetizer.%20And%20I%20think%20it%20would%20be%20easily%20adjusted%20for%20different%20flavor%20profiles%20as%20well.%20And%20this%20is%20a%20good%20one%20for%20the%20air%20conditioner-less%20situation%20that%20I%20find%20myself%20in.%20It%20is%20always%20right%20around%20this%20time%20of%20year%20that%20I%20wonder%20why%20I%20love%20this%20apartment%20so%20much.%20No%20air%20and%20no%20dishwasher.%20Remind%20me%20again?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnyway,%20if%20you%20are%20as%20big%20a%20salmon%20sushi%20fan%20as%20I%20am,%20sally%20forth%20and%20make%20this%20soon.%20You%20will%20not%20regret%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20small%20bowl,%20mix%202%20tablespoons%20of%20the%20soy%20sauce%20with%20the%20lime%20and%20orange%20juices.%20In%20a%20medium%20bowl,%20toss%20the%20salmon%20with%20the%20remaining%201/4%20cup%20of%20soy%20sauce%20and%20let%20stand%20for%201%20minute,%20then%20drain.%20Arrange%20salmon%20on%20plate%20or%20plates%20and%20top%20with%20the%20ginger%20and%20chives.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20small%20saucepan,%20heat%20the%20oils%20over%20moderately%20high%20heat%20until%20smoking,%20about%202%20minutes.%20Drizzle%20the%20hot%20oil%20over%20the%20salmon%20pieces.%20Spoon%20the%20soy-citrus%20sauce%20on%20top.%20Sprinkle%20with%20the%20roasted%20sesame%20seeds%20and%20cilantro%20leaves,%20if%20using,%20and%20serve.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
