Receta Indian spiced potato wedges with coriander lime yogurt
Do any of you own a Tefal Actifry? My husband and I have been lusting after one for months, and I was lucky enough to be sent one before Christmas, much to our delight! (…is ‘much to our delight’ something that someone in their mid-twenties should be saying? Not sure.)
If you don’t know what an Actifry does, it basically fries things in only one tablespoon of oil. I don’t know how it does it, but it makes the best chips ever.
Just in case you didn’t quite hear me, I’ll repeat: the best chips ever, with only one tablespoon of oil to make the whole batch! It’s a dream come true!
When we first got the Actifry, we had chips (that’s fries to some of you) for dinner four days in a row… then I think we went back to them after one day off. They’re so good!
The machine has an arm that rotates, tossing the chips (or whatever you’re making – it’s good for stir fry, risotto etc. too) round in the oil so everything gets evenly coated. This also means that you don’t need to give your chips any attention while they’re cooking – you don’t need to turn them over halfway like I usually do with oven-baked ones. The only downside that I can find with the machine is that it’s seriously noisy (it sounds like a plane is taking off in my kitchen!) – but, when your dinner needs no supervision, it’s easy to shut the door, put the telly on and ignore the noise.
This time I decided to branch out a bit, and use the Actifry to make Indian spiced potato wedges. You can add the spices into the pot along with the potatoes and oil, so it toasts the spices gently as the wedges cook. Of course, if you don’t have an Actifry, you could make these potato wedges in a normal oven too – just make sure you toss the wedges thoroughly in the oil and spices, and turn them over once or twice during baking.
I also made a simple coriander-lime yogurt to go alongside the wedges. Got to have something to dip them in!
(by the way, I had to edit out a scratch from my hand in this photo. Little puppy has sharp nails!!)
Indian spiced potato wedges with coriander lime yogurt Author: Becca @ Amuse Your Bouche Recipe type: Side dish Yield: 2-3 Ingredients For the Indian spiced potato wedges
1kg potatoes (~6 medium potatoes) 1 Actifry spoonful of oil (~1tbsp) 1 tsp hot chilli powder ½ tsp ground cumin ½ tsp ground coriander ½ tsp ground turmeric ½ tsp garam masala Salt Black pepper For the coriander lime yogurt
3tbsp Greek yogurt Juice of half a lime 1tbsp fresh coriander, chopped Salt Black pepper Instructions
Chop the potatoes into wedges (I left the skins on mine). Add them to the Actifry along with the oil, spices, and some salt and pepper. You don't need to stir. Set the Actifry to cook for around 40 minutes (the exact timing will depend on the size of your wedges). Meanwhile, combine the Greek yogurt with the lime juice, chopped coriander, and some more salt and pepper. When the potato wedges are soft in the middle and crispy on the outside, serve them with the yogurt dip. 3.2.2925
