%20We%20already%20have%20lots%20of%20fun%20with%20the%20humorous%20gift%20tags%20that%20we%20put%20on%20our%20Christmas%20presents%20(they%20provide%20clues%20to%20the%20gift%20within%20or%20are%20purportedly%20from%20different%20gift-givers%20in%20our%20lives)%20and%20I%20thought%20this%20would%20add%20to%20the%20merriment.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWell,%20only%20Dan%20and%20I%20and%20Daughter%20%231%20were%20imbued%20with%20the%20Crazy%20Mug%20Spirit,%20but%20we%20still%20got%20a%20kick%20out%20of%20the%20unveiling%20of%20the%20mugs.%20Below%20you%20see%20the%20Crazy%20Mug%20entries.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20Penguin%20mug%20was%20actually%20judged%20to%20be%20rather%20cute,%20and%20we%20feel%20we%20could%20even%20use%20it%20to%20drink%20from,%20so%20that%20was%20quickly%20out%20of%20contention.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20any%20other%20year%20I%20think%20my%20strange%20Crazy%20Mug%20entry,%20featuring%20a%20badly-drawn,%20roller-skating%20clown%20peeping%20backwards%20through%20his%20well-defined%20buttocks%20would%20have%20been%20judged%20the%20winner....%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20this%20was%20quickly%20eclipsed%20by%20Dan's%20winning%20entry,%20%22Smashed%20Again%22.%20Dan%20had%20purveyed%20the%20glassware%20shelves%20of%20many%20a%20thrift%20shop%20and%20actually%20came%20up%20with%20the%20winning%20Crazy%20Mug%20at%20an%20antiques%20shop%20where%20the%20owner%20gave%20him%20the%20mug%20for%20free%20because%20the%20tail%20was%20broken%20off%20of%20the%20creepily%20anthropomorphic%20mouse%20figure%20attached%20to%20the%20handle.%20Mr.%20Mouse%20is%20staring%20down%20at%20a%20flattened%20mouse%20friend%20at%20the%20bottom%20of%20the%20mug.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20mug%20is%20so%20Crazy%20on%20so%20many%20levels.%20Why%20%22smashed%20again%22%20on%20a%20mug?%20Doesn't%20one%20drink%20booze%20out%20of%20a%20glass%20ordinarily?%20And%20how%20does%20one%20clean%20this%20twisted%20bit%20of%20pottery?%20And%20who%20wants%20to%20drink%20out%20of%20something%20that%20has%20a%20dead%20mouse%20in%20it,%20real%20mouse%20or%20not?%20No%20matter,%20Dan%20has%20won%20the%20first%20Annual%20Crazy%20Mug%20Christmas%20Contest%20and%20I%20am%20already%20looking%20forward%20to%20creating%20a%20trophy%20for%20next%20year's%20event.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnto%20the%20Christmas%20Food!%20We%20had%20some%20mulled%20cider,%20cheese%20and%20crackers,%20a%20vegetable%20platter%20and%20dip%20and%20a%20first%20course%20salad,%20Pepperonata%20with%20Goat%20Cheese%20Truffles,%20which%20I%20had%20tried%20in%20an%20earlier%20post.%20With%20the%20addition%20of%20some%20red%20pepper%20poinsettias%20(I%20had%20a%20small%20flower%20cookie%20cutter%20on%20hand%20for%20that%20trick)%20and%20substituting%20spinach%20for%20the%20blanched%20arugula%20in%20the%20original%20recipe,%20this%20was%20a%20festive%20red%20and%20green%20starter%20for%20us.%20I%20also%20rolled%20smaller%20goat%20cheese%20truffles,%20and%20rolled%20the%20green%20ones%20in%20snipped%20parsley.%20Perfetto!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20there%20were%20two%20trays%20of%20lasagna,%20one%20meaty%20and%20wheaty%20for%20my%20carnivorous%20crew%20and%20one%20tray%20of%20Mushroom,%20Artichoke%20and%20Spinach%20Lasagna%20made%20with%20rice%20noodles%20for%20the%20vegetarian,%20gluten-free%20crowd.%20The%20Christmas%20feasting%20concluded%20with%20a%20rich%20Irish%20Cream%20Cheesecake.%20My%20cousin-in-law's%20wonderful%20wife%20Diane%20had%20once%20made%20us%20such%20a%20delight%20one%20holiday%20season%20and%20Dan%20had%20very%20fond%20memories%20of%20it,%20so%20I%20dug%20out%20the%20recipe%20she%20had%20given%20me%20and%20figured%20out%20a%20gluten-free%20crust%20to%20replace%20her%20graham%20cracker%20version%20and%20this%20proved%20to%20be%20a%20delicious%20and%20successful%20experiment.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EButter%20the%20bottom%20and%20sides%20of%20a%209%20inch%20springform%20pan%20with%20softened%20butter.%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20Honey%20Nut%20Chex%20in%20zipped%20plastic%20bag.%20Smash%20with%20rolling%20pin%20until%20you%20get%20fine%20crumbs.%20One%20could%20also%20do%20this%20in%20a%20food%20processor.%20Mix%20crumbs%20thoroughly%20with%20melted%20butter%20and%20chopped%20nuts.%20Press%20into%20the%20bottom%20and%20halfway%20up%20the%20sides%20of%20the%20buttered%20springform%20pan.%20Cover%20with%20plastic%20wrap%20and%20chill%20in%20refrigerator%20for%20at%20least%20one%20hour%20to%20let%20harden.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20325%20degrees%20F.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBeat%20softened%20cream%20cheese%20with%20mixer%20until%20fluffy.%20Add%20in%20sugar%20and%20mix%20well.%20Add%20eggs,%20Irish%20Cream%20liqueur%20and%20vanilla.%20Mix%20well.%20Mix%20in%20grated%20white%20chocolate%20and%20mix%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20into%20prepared%20crust.%20Bake%2060%20minutes%20or%20until%20the%20edges%20of%20the%20cheesecake%20are%20puffed%20up%20and%20dry%20looking%20and%20the%20center%20is%20set.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECool%20on%20rack.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20cheesecake%20is%20thoroughly%20cooled,%20top%20with%20a%20mixture%20of%20the%20sour%20cream%20and%20confectioner's%20sugar.%20Spread%20topping%20smoothly%20and%20garnish%20with%20reserved%20grated%20white%20chocolate.%20(Don't%20garnish%20with%20Turbinado%20or%20other%20sugar%20crystals%20as%20we%20did%20because%20they%20will%20dissolve%20and%20make%20the%20top%20of%20the%20cheesecake%20strangely%20wet,%20causing%20the%20dessert%20chef%20some%20concern%20and%20involving%20much%20blotting%20with%20paper%20napkins%20before%20serving).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWrap%20cheesecake%20with%20plastic%20wrap%20and%20chill%20in%20refrigerator%20for%20at%20least%206%20hours%20before%20serving.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMakes%2010-12%20very%20rich%20dessert%20servings.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWith%20many%20happy%20wishes%20to%20my%20Crispy%20Cook%20readers%20and%20blogger%20buddies%20for%20a%20delightful%20rest%20of%20the%20year%20and%20for%20a%20happy,%20healthy,%20peaceful%20and%20prosperous%20New%20Year!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
