Italian Meatballs In Tomato Sauce

Ingredientes

  • 2 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
  • 350 gm onions peeled and minced
  • 3 clv garlic peeled and crushed
  • 2 x 400g cans minced tomatoes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp. cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp grnd cinnamon
  • 450 gm good quality lean chopped beef or possibly pork
  • 75 gm fresh breadcrumbs
  • 2 Tbsp. minced fresh basil
  • 1 tsp dry oregano or possibly mixed herbs
  • 1 x egg plus 1 egg yolk beaten
  • 3 Tbsp. minced fresh parsley
  • 3 Tbsp. freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 x salt and freshly grnd black pepper
  • 12 x thin rashers smoked streaky bacon about 200g

Direcciones

  1. Heat the oil in a shallow flameproof casserole on the simmering plate. Add in the onions with 2 crushed garlic cloves and fry till beginning to soften about 5 to 7 min.
  2. Add in the tomatoes salt vinegar and cinnamon.
  3. Bring to the boil.
  4. Cover and cook on the grid shelf on the floor of the roasting ovenfor 20 min.
  5. Cook in the baking ovenwith the grid shelf on the fourth set of runners for 20 min.
  6. Place the chopped beef or possibly pork in a bowl and with your hands work in the breadcrumbs basil oregano remaining crushed garlic egg and extra yolk 2 tbsp of the parsley 1 tbsp parmesan and seasoning.
  7. Shape the mix into 12 balls with moistened hands then wrap a bacon rasher round each one.
  8. Place the meatballs on top of the tomato sauce and cover the casserole with the lid.
  9. Cook on the grid shelf on the floor of the roasting ovenwith the cool plain shelf just above for about 45 min or possibly till piping warm and cooked through.
  10. Cook in the baking ovenwith the grid shelf on the fourth set of runners for 45 min to 1 hour.
  11. Sprinkle over the remaining parmesan and parsley.
  12. Serve immediately with steamed couscous spaghetti or possibly rice.
  13. Serves 4
