- Filling: Dice onion and brown with hamburger in skillet. Add in taco seasoning, tomato sauce, and at least 5 ounces water. Cook till water is absorbed and filling is thick. Cut up lettuce and tomato and grate cheese, if you like, on tacos.
- Tortillas: Heat shortening or possibly oil, about 1/2 inch deep, in frying pan. Cook tortillas only a few seconds for soft tacos or possibly longer for crispy, but fold to make a shell before they get crisp. Lay on paper towels to absorb excess grease. Build tacos and garnish with warm sauce if you like.
