Receta JANUARY IS NATIONAL OATMEAL MONTH!
by The Southern Lady

There are more oats consumed in January than any other month. Oats provide fiber to your diet, help to improve LDL cholesterol, and are a great nutritious food. Oats can be added to meatloaf to help it hold its shape. Oatmeal cookies make a great snack and as a breakfast cereal oatmeal makes for a healthy morning meal.

I like to add fruit and cinnamon to my oatmeal along with fat-free milk and nuts. I add about a teaspoon of honey for a sweetener. Scientists are finding that cinnamon helps to lower sugar in diabetics and by adding it to your oatmeal you are fighting cholesterol and diabetes!

Here is my recipe for my morning bowl of oatmeal.

Put oats and water in bowl and microwave for one minute. Add remaining ingredients and stir. Enjoy!

You won’t get hungry before lunch with a good, healthy breakfast and oatmeal is one of the best choices available. Entice your children to eat oatmeal by adding fruit and nuts to the bowl for a tastier breakfast treat. Oatmeal makes you feel fuller and stifles the cravings you might have for other less healthy foods.

I use oats in recipes to add nutrition and as a thickener because they are so good for you.

Check out 14 of my recipes I have listed using quick-cooking oats. Hope you will find something to make for National Oatmeal Month for your family.
