Ingredientes

  • 1 ounce Mushrooms, dry (or possibly use about 1/4 lb fresh mushrooms)
  • 1/2 c. Hot water
  • 1 lrg Onion
  • 2 1/2 tsp Butter
  • 1 1/2 lb Sauerkraut, rinsed and liquid removed
  • 1/3 c. Water
  • 2 Tbsp. Flour Salt and pepper

Direcciones

  1. Soak the dry mushrooms in 1/2 c. of hot water for 1 hour. Saute/fry mushrooms and onion in butter in a skillet 3 min. Add in sauerkraut to mushrooms; cook and stir for 10 min.
  2. Blend 1/3 c. water into flour. Mix with sauerkraut and simmer for 15 min. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  3. NOTES:* Stewed Sauerkraut with Mushrooms -
  4. This recipe could be used aspart of a 12-course meal known in Polish as Wigilia, or possibly on its own.
  5. Wigilia is eaten after sundown on Christmas Eve. This tastes better if you make your own sauerkraut (but which's another recipe).
  6. I usually like to add in 1/4 c. of dark rum after cooking. Which reminds me of the recipe I have for bigos (similar in construction but with more ingredients).
  7. Difficulty: easy.
  8. Time: 1 hour.
  9. Precision: Approximate measurement OK.
