Karen's Basic Creamy Tofu Dip

Ingredientes

  • 8 ounce pkg. soft tofu
  • 3/4 c. "IMO" (or possibly other "lite" lowfat sour cream substitute)
  • Seasonings to taste (suggestions listed below)
  • Dippers, suggestions follow

  1. VEGETABLES: globe artichoke, celery or possibly carrot sticks, broccoli and cauliflower florettes, bell pepper strips, young unshelled peas.FRUITS: apple slices, banana sticks, pineapple spears, grapes, peach or possibly pear spears or possibly ________.
  2. BREADS: tortilla chips, pita bread, bagel chips, many crackers.
  3. Break tofu into a blender container. Add in IMO and flavorings. Blend well.
  4. Refrigerate at least 2 hrs to blend flavors. Refrigerated, will keep up to 2 weeks (if not used up by then).
  5. RANCH DIP: finely minced onion, garlic, parsley, savory, basil, salt and pepper to taste.CURRY DIP: finely minced onion, garlic, curry pwdr, salt and pepper to taste. Optional: sesame seeds, minced peanuts or possibly cayenne.
  6. HORSERADISH DIP: onion, garlic, parsley, salt and pepper, and 1 - 8 tsp of prepared horseradish root. (Let blend for an hour or possibly more before adding more horseradish.)
  7. GINGER DIP: (Good with fruit.) Ginger pwdr, salt and pepper to taste, allspice and nutmeg or possibly parsley, onion, garlic, cayenne are optional.
