.%20%20Neither%20am%20I%20someone%20who%20tries%20to%20dictate%20how%20something%20should%20be%20done%20and%20I%20am%20never%20happier%20than%20when%20a%20reader%20simply%20uses%20my%20recipe%20as%20an%20inspiration%20for%20their%20own.%22%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20have%20taken%20part%20in%20'Dish%20of%20the%20Month'%20or%20even%20read%20through%20one%20of%20the%20round%20ups,%20you%20will%20realise%20that%20most%20of%20the%20participants%20use%20the%20recipes%20as%20an%20inspiration.%20%20I%20am%20trying%20to%20cook%20the%20Kitchen%20Diaries%20month%20by%20month,%20finding%20at%20least%20one%20recipe%20from%20the%20appropriate%20month%20to%20share%20in%20this%20blog%20challenge%20and%20I%20have%20found%20that%20the%20inspiration%20route%20certainly%20works%20for%20me.%20%20Some%20of%20this%20may%20be%20because%20the%20seasons%20in%20Scotland%20are%20slightly%20out%20of%20kilter%20with%20the%20more%20southern%20parts%20of%20the%20UK,%20for%20example%20Elderberries%20feature%20in%20the%20August%20chapter%20and%20at%20the%20end%20of%20August%20they%20are%20still%20green%20here.%20%20Or%20it%20may%20be%20that%20I%20am%20more%20of%20an%20ingredient%20led%20cook%20e.g.%20what%20is%20in%20the%20fridge/freezer/cupboard/garden%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENo%20matter,%20I've%20never%20failed%20to%20be%20inspired%20by%20Nigel's%20recipes%20and%20ideas,%20even%20if,%20sometimes,%20I%20veer%20so%20far%20off%20recipe%20for%20them%20to%20become%20unrecognisable!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20so%20to%20this%20month's%20offering%20which%20is%20Lamb%20'osso%20buco'%20with%20parsley%20papardelle.%20%20Guess%20what?%20%20I%20didn't%20have%20lamb%20steaks%20on%20the%20bone,%20I%20had%20a%20nice%20piece%20of%20Herdwick%20rolled%20shoulder,%20so%20I%20made%20this%20into%20more%20of%20a%20pot%20roast,%20oh%20and%20no%20Marsala%20either,%20so%20I%20used%20a%20tablespoon%20of%20Brandy%20and%20some%20lamb%20stock.%20%20And,%20because%20I%20haven't%20been%20feeling%20too%20well%20recently%20and%20couldn't%20face%20making%20roasties,%20I%20just%20threw%20the%20potatoes%20in%20to%20cook%20with%20it.%20%20So%20no%20need%20for%20pappardelle,%20although%20I%20may%20make%20that%20to%20eat%20with%20the%20left%20over%20lamb.%20%20I%20also%20made%20some%20fresh%20mint%20sauce%20which%20added%20to%20the%20deliciousness.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDessert%20could%20have%20been%20Pear%20and%20Chocolate%20Oat%20Crumble%20from%20KDII,%20but%20I%20didn't%20have%20any%20pears,%20so%20I%20concocted%20a%20Peach,%20Bramble%20and%20Almond%20Crumble%20instead.%20%20As%20this%20is%20my%20recipe%20rather%20than%20Nigel's,%20I%20have%20included%20it%20for%20you%20below:.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPeach%20Bramble%20and%20Almond%20Crumble%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServes%204-6%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20peaches%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eabout%20a%20cup%20of%20blackberries%20(brambles)%20-%20or%20a%20couple%20of%20handfuls%20-%20sorry%20this%20is%20crumble%20not%20science!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20%20Skin%20the%20peaches,%20by%20putting%20them%20in%20a%20bowl,%20pouring%20over%20boiling%20water%20and%20leaving%20for%20a%20couple%20of%20minutes,%20then%20removing%20and%20the%20skin%20should%20come%20off%20easily.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.%20Slice%20the%20peaches%20and%20place%20in%20an%20ovenproof%20dish.%20%20Add%20the%20brambles,%20%20and%20the%20sugar.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3.%20Put%20the%20flour,%20ground%20almonds%20and%20butter,%20cut%20into%20cubes,%20into%20a%20bowl.%20%20Rub%20the%20butter%20through%20the%20flour%20and%20almond%20mixture%20until%20it%20resembles%20breadcrumbs.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4.%20Add%20the%20demerara%20sugar%20and%20spoon%20over%20the%20fruit%20in%20the%20ovenproof%20dish.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E5.%20Sprinkle%20the%20flaked%20almonds%20over%20the%20crumble%20mixture.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E6.%20Bake%20at%20160C%20for%20about%2040%20minutes%20until%20the%20fruit%20is%20bubbling%20and%20the%20crumble%20has%20turned%20golden%20brown.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E7.%20Serve%20with%20cream,%20ice%20cream,%20yogurt%20or%20custard.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20would%20like%20to%20take%20part%20in%20Dish%20of%20the%20Month,%20then%20please:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMake%20a%20Dish%20of%20the%20Month%20from%20ANY%20recipe%20by%20Nigel%20Slater%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELink%20to%20Farmersgirl%20Kitchen%20or%20A%20Little%20Bit%20of%20Heaven%20on%20a%20Plate%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUse%20the%20Dish%20of%20the%20Month%20logo%20in%20your%20post%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20use%20twitter,%20tweet%20your%20post%20with%20@serialcrafter%20or%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E@Heavenona_plate%20and%20%23DishoftheMonth%20and%20we%20will%20re-tweet%20it%20to%20our%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Efollowers.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERules:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20own%20The%20kitchen%20diaries%20II%20please%20do%20not%20publish%20the%20recipes%20on%20your%20blog%20without%20permission,%20they%20are%20copyright.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20are%20using%20recipes%20from%20the%20BBC%20Food%20website,%20please%20link%20to%20the%20recipe%20on%20BBC%20Food%20rather%20than%20publishing%20the%20recipe.%20Likewise%20recipes%20on%20the%20Guardian%20Lifestyle%20website.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOne%20entry%2
