%20working%20as%20a%20teacher.%20After%20hugs,%20hellos,%20and%20a%20big%20breakfast%20of%20eggs,%20toast,%20and%20bacon%20made%20by%20Melissa's%20roommate,%20the%20Canadian%20crew%20was%20off%20to%20enjoy%20our%20first%20London%20market%20experience.%20Melissa%20was%20so%20excited%20to%20take%20us%20to%20the%20world%20famous%20Portobello%20market,%20a%20street%20market%20that%20runs%20right%20through%20the%20heart%20of%20Notting%20Hill,%20taking%20up%20most%20of%20Portobello%20Road,%20with%20stand%20after%20stand%20selling%20antiques,%20fruits%20and%20vegetables,%20striking%20fashions%20and%20jewelry,%20and%20fresh,%20hot%20prepared%20food.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20took%20all%20of%20two%20minutes%20for%20me%20to%20regret%20that%20large%20breakfast%20with%20so%20many%20tasty%20offerings%20being%20served%20up%20at%20each%20stand,%20the%20most%20appealing%20of%20which%20was%20the%20massive%20vats%20of%20fresh%20and%20colourful%20paella,%20filled%20with%20every%20shellfish%20imaginable.%20The%20smells%20as%20you%20walked%20past%20each%20booth%20was%20positively%20intoxicating,%20begging%20you%20to%20sample%20each%20and%20every%20dish.%20If%20only%20the%20servings%20of%20paella%20weren't%20quite%20so%20large%20I%20would%20have%20undoubtably%20given%20in%20to%20the%20mouth-watering%20Spanish%20dish...I'm%20still%20kicking%20myself%20for%20not.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20was%20definitely%20beer%20O'clock%20after%20all%20that%20walking%20around,%20so%20we%20wandered%20into%20the%20quirky,%20open-facade%20Mau%20Mau%20Bar%20for%20a%20couple%20of%20beers%20and%20on-the-house%20cocktails.%20This%20old%20school%20London%20bar%20had%20a%20laid%20back%20attitude%20that%20was%20just%20what%20we%20were%20looking%20for%20after%20winding%20through%20the%20crowds%20on%20Portobello%20Road.%20The%20friendly%20bartender%20was%20awesome,%20chatty,%20and%20generous%20giving%20Chris%20a%20Manhattan%20and%20a%20Negroni%20on%20the%20house!%20Hooray%20for%20British%20hospitality!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20checking%20into%20the%20Crown%20Moran%20Hotel%20and%20a%20much%20needed%20nap%20in%20what%20was%20possibly%20the%20coziest%20bed%20I%20have%20ever%20been%20in,%20we%20were%20back%20out%20with%20our%20Oyster%20cards%20in%20hand,%20to%20hop%20on%20a%20double%20decker%20bus%20and%20the%20tube%20to%20meet%20up%20with%20our%20Canadian%20crew%20for%20our%20first%20dinner%20in%20London%20at%20Wahaca%20Mexican%20Eating%20in%20Covent%20Garden.%20Chris%20had%20raved%20about%20the%20popular%20Mexican%20restaurant%20from%20his%20last%20trip%20to%20London,%20emphasizing%20their%20fresh%20ingredients,%20reasonable%20prices,%20and%20great%20tequila%20selection.%20With%20a%20massive%20lineup%20that%20filled%20the%20lobby%20and%20wound%20up%20the%20stairs,%20we%20were%20nervous%20about%20getting%20a%20table%20any%20time%20within%20the%20hour,%20but%20lucky%20for%20us,%20a%20large%20reservation%20had%20not%20shown%20up,%20and%20we%20were%20able%20to%20snag%20a%20table%20for%20seven%20immediately!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20menu,%20which%20is%20filled%20with%20an%20assortment%20of%20authentic%20Mexican%20street%20food,%20is%20made%20with%20care%20using%20the%20freshest%20of%20ingredients,%20which%20are%20all%20sourced%20as%20ethically%20and%20locally%20as%20possible.%20Encouraged%20to%20share,%20we%20started%20off%20our%20meal%20with%20mortars%20filled%20with%20tomato%20dotted%20guacamole%20and%20tortilla%20chips%20and,%20of%20course,%20margaritas!%20From%20there,%20Chris%20and%20I%20shared%20an%20order%20of%20Pork%20Pibil%20Tacos%20(slow%20cooked%20pork%20in%20Yucatecan%20marinade%20with%20fiery%20pickled%20onions),%20Chicken%20Mole%20Tacos%20(tender%20chicken%20in%20a%20rich%20red%20Coloradito%20mole%20sauce%20from%20Oaxaca),%20Chorizo%20and%20Potato%20Quesadillas%20(British%20chorizo,%20made%20with%20their%20own%20special%20recipe,%20with%20fresh%20thyme%20and%20steamed%20potato),%20Slow-Cooked%20Pork%20Burritos%20(toasted%20flour%20tortillas%20wrapped%20around%20slow-cooked%20pork,%20with%20frijoles,%20shredded%20cabbage,%20green%20rice,%20crema,%20avocado%20salsa,%20pink%20pickled%20onions,%20habanero%20chillies,%20and%20Baja%20cheese),%20and%20Spicy%20Slaw%20(shredded%20cabbage%20and%20red%20onion%20in%20a%20spicy%20dressing).%20Every%20dish%20(minus%20the%20lackluster%20not-spicy-at-all%20slaw)%20was%20fantastic,%20with%20the%20Pork%20Pibil%20and%20Chicken%20Mole%20tacos%20being%20our%20favourite!%20We%20ended%20our%20lovely%20meal%20with%20a%20couple%20of%20rounds%20of%20tequila%20shots%20to%20toast%20to%20an%20inevitable%20incredible%20trip!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDespite%20our%20let%20jag%20and%20tired%20bodies,%20we%20had%20to%20do%20it%20up%20on%20our%20first%20night,%20so%20we%20headed%20down%20the%20road%20to%20the%20multi-floor%20Porterhouse%20Bar%20for%20live%20music%20and%20more%20pints!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStay%20tuned%20for%20Day%20Two%20and%20our%20visit%20to%20Camden%20Market!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EListening%20To:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESoko%20-%20We%20Might%20Be%20Dead%20By%20Tomorrow%3
