Welcome to the last day of my low-carb lassi week! Yesterday, I asked from you on my Facebook page which of the four options to publish as my last lassi recipe, and Orange Ginger Lassi was your unanimous wish.
In this drink the elegant and fruity flavor of orange peel is combined with fresh, tongue-tickling ginger. The fireworks of flavors are rounded with rich and creamy yogurt and slightly sweetened with a zero-carb sweetener.
- Orange Ginger Lassi
- 2 cups = 480 ml ice-cold water
- 7 oz = 200 g organic, full-fat Greek or Turkish yogurt
- Freshly grated peel from 1 small organic orange (only the orange-colored part)
- 1 teaspoon freshly grated organic ginger
2 packets NuStevia NoCarbs Blend
Directions
Place all ingredients in a blender jar. (I used Blendtec blender with WildSide jar.)
Blend until smooth and frothy. (I used smoothie program.)
Serve immediately over ice cubes.

Tips for making this Orange Ginger Lassi
General information on how to choose right yogurt and how to make lassi you can find here.
Orange peel is a real treasure for the low-carbers who cannot enjoy the fruit because of the carbs. Not only gives the peel a burst of fresh orange flavor, but this flavor is also more elegant and more multidimensional than the flavor of pure orange juice.
When grating the orange, grate just the orange-colored peel and avoid the white pith, as the pith would give a very bitter flavor to the drink.
As always, when using orange peel in drinks, be sure to serve the drink immediately as the peel makes the drink taste bitter if it’s stored longer than a couple of hours.
Moreover, the yogurt starts to separate if you store the drink. This, however, doesn’t matter too much. If any separation occurs, just stir the drink gently before serving.
The ginger doesn’t taste immediately when you take the first sip of this drink. It kicks in afterwards. Be sure to use freshly grated, peeled ginger. If the grated ginger has to stand longer than a day, it loses its freshness and also the kick. By the way, ginger is great against flu and articular diseases.
Since it’s the day seven of my low-carb lassi week, this was the last lassi recipe for now. Thanks for joining the ride!
I still would have plenty of lassi recipes, but I want to save them later and not bore you stiff with my lassi recipes. Next week I’m going to publish either something from cauliflower or then something baked and easy.
P.S. I’m still going to give a recipe for my lassi-inspired strawberry-flavored drink on my Facebook page. There are over 65,000 fans now, and I’m going to throw a giveaway in the end of this week. You are very welcome to join!
