Mako Sushi Tofu Steak

Ingredientes

  • 1/2 c. extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 lb sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 x white onion sliced
  • 2 x cartons extra-hard tofu - (13 ounce ea) liquid removed
  • 1 1/2 c. cream Sherry
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp garlic pwdr mixed with
  • 1 tsp water
  • 3 Tbsp. soy sauce

Direcciones

  1. Heat 1/4 c. extra virgin olive oil in 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add in mushrooms and onion, and saute/fry till onion is tender, 15 min.
  2. Cut tofu into "steaks" by slicing each block into 3 lengthwise slabs. Heat 1/4 c. extra virgin olive oil in a second skillet over medium-high heat and saute/fry tofu steaks till cooked on both sides, 4 to 5 min a side. You may need to cook tofu in batches.
  3. Remove tofu and set steaks in skillet on top of cooked mushroom mix. Add in Sherry to pan which held tofu and heat. Tilt pan away from you and with a long-handled match, ignite Sherry (keep face and loose clothing away from flames; don't allow children near flames).
  4. When flames burn down, add in butter and garlic-water mix to skillet. Heat till butter melts. Add in soy sauce and simmer over medium heat till sauce thickens slightly, 3 to 4 min. Return tofu to pan and saute/fry till light brown on both sides, 2 to 4 min a side.
  5. Divide tofu among 6 serving plates and top with mushroom mix and sauce. Serve warm.
