Ingredientes

  • 8 slc French bread, 1" thick - (2 1/2" x 4 1/2")
  • 4 ounce cream cheese room temperature
  • 1/4 c. marmalade
  • 4 lrg Large eggs
  • 1 c. lowfat milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp grnd cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp grnd nutmeg
  • 2 Tbsp. butter - (1/4 stick) Orange Syrup (see recipe)

Direcciones

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Place baking sheet in oven. Cutting through top crust of each bread slice, make 4-inch-long by 2-inch-deep pocket. Stir cream cheese and marmalade in small bowl. Spoon 1 generous tablespoonful cream cheese mix into each bread pocket.
  2. Whisk Large eggs, lowfat milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon and nutmeg in pie plate.
  3. Dip 4 stuffed bread slices into egg mix, coating completely. Heat 1 Tbsp. butter in large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add in dipped bread to skillet. Cook till golden, about 2 min per side. Transfer French toast to baking sheet in oven. Repeat dipping and cooking with remaining 4 bread slices, egg mix and 1 Tbsp. butter. Serve with Orange Syrup.
  4. This recipe yields 4 servings.
