Receta Masala Idiyappam
Idiyappam (or known as String Hoppers) is a traditional dish from Tamil Cuisine. Typically served as breakfast dish with a gravy.
Ingredients:
Plain Idiyappam – 5 to 6 (available readymade or use this recipe), crumbled
Sambar Onions (Shallots) – 10 to 12, finely chopped
Green Chillies – 3, slit lengthwise
- Green Peas – 1/4 cup (optional)
- Tomato – 1, finely chopped
- Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
- Garam Masala Powder – 1/4 tsp
- Turmeric Powder – a pinch
- Gingelly Oil – 3 tsp
- Mustard Seeds – 3/4 tsp
- Urad Dal – 1 tsp
- Bengal Gram Dal – 1 tsp
- Curry Leaves – few
- Salt as per taste
Method:
1. Heat oil in a pan.
2. Fry the mustard seeds, urad dal, bengal gram dal and curry leaves for 30 seconds.
3. Add the onions and green chillies.
4. Saute for a minute.
5. Add the red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and stir well.
6. Add salt and crumbled idiyappams.
7. Mix well.
8. Serve.
