.%20But%20previously,%20I'd%20somehow%20dismissed%20the%20ribs%20as%20a%20recipe%20idea%20for%20my%20blog.%20However,%20seeing%20as%20I%20made%20them%20for%20the%204th%20time%20yesterday..(2nd%20time%20for%20'Mate's')%20-%20it%20was%20like%20a%20light-bulb%20moment%20%22Of%20course!%20-%20Why%20not%20the%20ribs?%22%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI've%20often%20noticed%20pork%20ribs%20on%20the%20supermarket%20shelves,%20but%20more%20recently%20I've%20noticed%20lamb%20ribs%20&%20very%20cheap%20at%20$5.99%20a%20kilo%20on%20average.%20We%20cooked%2019%20ribs%20for%20less%20than%20$5%20yesterday.%20Ordinarily%20I%20wouldn't%20put%20ribs%20in%20my%20shopping-trolley%20(being%20that%20they%20aren't%20the%20leanest%20cut%20of%20meat),%20but%20admittedly%20'Masterchef'%20and%20George%20Calombaris%20and%20'Taste%20of%20Melbourne'%20have%20had%20an%20effect%20on%20me.%20I%20ate%20lamb%20ribs%20from%20'Maha'%20at%20the%20food%20festival%20and%20they%20were%20delish-as!!%20The%20combination%20of%20flavours%20I%20tried%20with%20Maha's%20ribs%20included%20lemon,%20garlic%20and%20rosemary..%20with%20the%20cooked%20ribs%20being%20served%20with%20yoghurt%20and%20a%20lemon%20wedge.%20My%20version%20uses%20dried%20oregano%20instead%20of%20rosemary%20and%20I%20put%20some%20mint%20in%20the%20yoghurt.%20So%20as%20you%20can%20see,%20I%20did%20try%20the%20lamb%20ribs%20at%20home%20and%20they%20always%20come%20up%20beautifully%20on%20the%20bbq%20-hence%20we%20do%20highly%20recommend%20them!%20Hubby's%20tip%20is:%20Cook%20the%20ribs%20with%20bone-side%20down%20first%20for%205%20to%2010min's%20depending%20on%20how%20hot%20your%20bbq%20is..%20and%20then%20another%204%20minutes%20or%20so%20on%20the%20other%20side.%20%22Mate's%20Rib's%22%20are%20full%20of%20flavour,%20juicy%20&%20tender..%20real%20finger-lickin'%20food!%20Forget%20cutlery..%20Just%20go%20nom-nom..%20Mmmm!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E-Hold%20the%20bag%20closed%20and%20carefully%20rub%20and%20'moosh'%20the%20ingredients%20into%20the%20lamb%20ribs,%20being%20careful%20not%20to%20pierce%20the%20freezer%20bag,%20making%20sure%20all%20of%20the%20ingredients%20are%20mixed%20together%20well%20and%20cover%20all%20of%20the%20ribs%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E-Allow%20to%20marinate%20for%20a%20minimum%202%20hours%20in%20the%20fridge.%20Best%20taken%20out%20one%20hour%20before%20you%20intend%20putting%20them%20on%20the%20bbq.%20On%20warm%20days%20however,%2010%20min's%20is%20sufficient%20out%20of%20the%20fridge.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E-Place%20ribs%20on%20a%20hot%20bbq,%20bone%20side%20down%20for%205%20to%2010min's,%20being%20careful%20not%20to%20burn%20them.%20Then%20turn%20them%20over%20and%20cook%20another%204%20minutes%20or%20so.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E-If%20you'd%20like%20to%20try%20these%20in%20the%20oven,%20preheat%20oven%20to%20210%20degrees%20celcius,%20and%20cook%20ribs%20on%20an%20oven%20tray%20for%2020%20to%2030%20minutes%20until%20sizzling%20and%20browned%20all%20over.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E-For%20Mint%20Yoghurt:%20Mix%20all%20ingredients%20together%20in%20a%20small%20bowl,%20cover%20with%20food%20wrap/cling%20film%20and%20refrigerate%20until%20needed.%20Best%20left%20to%20'infuse'%20for%20at%20least%20an%20hour%20before%20using.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E-Serve%20cooked%20ribs%20with%20lemon%20wedges%20and%20mint%20yoghurt.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELemon%20rind%20and%20oregano%20are%20in%20first...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20here%20we%20have%20the%20rest%20of%20the%20ingredients%20plonked%20in..%20yoghurt,%20garlic%20etc.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBBQ%20meat,%20being%20tandoori%20chicken%20skewers%20with%20sumac%20(Biggest%20Loser%20cookbook%20recipe)..%20onions,%20some%20of%20the%20lamb%20ribs..and%20also%20pork%20ribs,%20being%20someone%20elses%20bbq%20contribution.%20This%20wasn't%20all%20of%20the%20meat%20-just%20a%20sample%20platter%20(minus%20the%20hamburgers).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMoist%20and%20hard%20to%20stop%20at%20one!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
