%20cake%20made%20by%20another%20friend.%20A%20lot%20of%20laughter%20and%20jokes%20and%20serious%20talks%20and%20moscow%20mules%20were%20the%20highlight%20of%20the%20evening.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIts%20always%20uplifting%20to%20have%20such%20friends%20and%20I%20thank%20the%20Lord%20for%20getting%20these%20beautiful%20souls%20into%20our%20lives.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMethod%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWash%20the%20hot%20peppers%20and%20cut%20them%20into%20two%20pieces%20right%20in%20the%20middle.%20You%20can%20remove%20the%20seeds%20and%20the%20veins%20if%20you%20do%20not%20want%20the%20salaan%20to%20be%20extra%20hot.%20Leave%20it%20to%20dry%20out%20on%20a%20paper%20towel.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20a%20kadhai%20(I%20used%20an%20earthen%20pot%20to%20cook%20this%20salaan)%20and%20then%20add%20the%20groundnuts.%20Let%20them%20roast%20and%20let%20the%20color%20change%20to%20a%20reddish%20tinge%20-%20you%20will%20get%20a%20nice%20nutty%20aroma.%20Remove%20it%20onto%20a%20plate.%20Now%20add%20the%20sesame%20seeds%20and%20let%20them%20change%20their%20color%20-%20this%20will%20be%20quick%20as%20the%20kadhai%20is%20hot.%20Remove%20onto%20the%20same%20plate%20as%20the%20nuts.%20Now%20add%20the%20poppy%20seeds%20and%20roast%20for%202%20minutes.%20Do%20the%20same%20thing%20with%20the%20fenugreek%20seeds.%20%20Remove%20to%20the%20same%20plate.%20Roast%20the%20grated%20coconut%20and%20get%20a%20nice%20reddish%20brown%20color%20on%20them.%20Add%20this%20to%20the%20plate%20too.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20add%201%20tablespoon%20oil%20to%20the%20kadhai.%20When%20it%20gets%20hot,%20add%20the%20garlic%20and%20immediately%20add%20the%20onions%20and%20the%20ginger.%20Saute%20till%20the%20onions%20get%20a%20nice%20golden%20brown%20color.%20Remove%20it%20onto%20the%20same%20plate%20as%20the%20nuts%20and%20the%20seeds.%20Let%20it%20cool%20and%20then%20grind%20to%20a%20fine%20paste.%20Add%20very%20little%20water%20just%20to%20east%20the%20grinding%20process.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20the%20same%20kadhai%20add%20the%202%20tablespoons%20of%20oil.%20When%20it%20gets%20hot%20(really%20hot)%20add%20the%20chillis%20and%20get%20a%20nice%20chaar%20on%20their%20kinds.%20This%20would%20take%20about%207%20to%2010%20minutes.%20Remove%20on%20a%20paper%20towel%20and%20let%20it%20sit.%20Sprinkle%20a%20pinch%20of%20salt%20on%20these%20chillis.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20kadhai%20will%20have%20oil%20in%20it.%20To%20this%20add%20the%20mustard%20seeds.%20Let%20them%20splutter%20and%20then%20add%20the%20nigella%20seeds,%20curry%20leaves%20and%20dried%20red%20chillis.%20When%20the%20chillis%20puff%20up%20-%20add%20the%20ground%20paste%20and%20mix%20well%20with%20a%20light%20hand.%20When%20the%20mixture%20has%20oil%20seeping%20from%20the%20sides,%20add%20the%20coriander%20cumin%20powder,%20chilli%20powder,%20turmeric%20powder%20and%20a%20little%20salt.%20Add%20a%20cup%20of%20water%20and%20mix%20well.%20Cover%20and%20let%20the%20curry%20boil%20on%20medium%20heat.%20You%20will%20see%20the%20oil%20on%20top%20of%20the%20curry.%20Open%20the%20lid%20and%20add%20tamarind%20paste%20and%20jaggery.%20If%20the%20curry%20is%20too%20thick,%20you%20can%20add%201/4%20cup%20of%20water%20at%20a%20time%20to%20get%20the%20desired%20consistency.%20Add%20the%20fried%20chillis%20and%20check%20for%20salt.%20Cover%20and%20let%20the%20curry%20simmer%20on%20medium%20low%20heat%20for%205%20minutes.%20Garnish%20with%20chopped%20coriander%20leaves%20and%20serve%20hot%20with%20biryani.%20This%20goes%20well%20with%20plain%20steamed%20rice%20too.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
