%20lose%20sleep%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eb)%20pop%20anxiety%20meds%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ec)%20bury%20myself%20deep%20in%20consecutive%20glasses%20of%20wine%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20made%20sure%20to%20take%20a%20little%20of%20the%20edge%20off%20the%20visit%20(you%20know,%20in%20case%20the%20valium%20and%20alcohol%20weren't%20doing%20the%20job)%20by%20making%20a%20stop%20at%20a%20nearby%20Asian%20grocery%20store.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20I%20have%20definitely%20noticed%20a%20kind%20of%20cosmopolitan%20shift%20around%20here%20in%20the%20time%20since%20we%20moved%20up%20here,%20soy%20sauce%20and%20rice%20noodles%20are%20often%20the%20most%20Asian%20ingredients%20I'm%20likely%20to%20find%20at%20local%20stores.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20could%20have%20spent%20a%20good%20hour%20(and%20a%20good%20hundred%20dollars)%20roaming%20through%20the%20store%20but%20SeaBass%20was%20keeping%20me%20on%20a%20tight%20schedule%20so%20I%20limited%20myself%20to%20a%20few%20dried%20ingredients%20that%20I've%20been%20wanting%20to%20try.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20favourite%20ingredient%20so%20far?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYep,%20dried%20lily%20flowers%20also%20known%20as%20Golden%20Needles%20for%20their%20beautiful%20yellow%20colour.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThey%20are%20the%20dried%20buds%20of%20the%20day%20lily%20and%20add%20great%20texture%20and%20%20taste%20to%20traditional%20Chinese%20stir%20fries%20and%20soups.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20simply%20reconstitute%20the%20dried%20flowers%20in%20hot%20water%20and%20they%20are%20ready%20to%20be%20added%20to%20any%20dish.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20find%20them%20slightly%20earthy%20with%20a%20burst%20of%20tart%20almost%20vinegary%20hit%20in%20the%20reconstituted%20bud.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20wanted%20to%20make%20something%20very%20traditional%20as%20my%20first%20dish%20featuring%20the%20lilies.%20I%20always%20like%20to%20start%20that%20way%20with%20a%20new%20ingredient,%20it%20gives%20me%20an%20idea%20of%20where%20the%20ingredient%20comes%20from,%20its%20role%20in%20tradition%20and%20history.%20Once%20I'm%20comfortable%20with%20the%20history%20of%20an%20ingredient%20I'm%20ready%20to%20make%20it%20my%20own.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERight,%20so%20enough%20babbling%20about%20what%20I'm%20sure%20is%20my%20ever%20so%20intriguing%20food%20tendencies%20('cause%20obviously%20I%20totally%20know%20what%20the%20hell%20I'm%20talking%20about.)%20Back%20to%20the%20food.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20first%20thing%20I%20made%20with%20my%20bounty%20of%20lilies%20was%20Muxi%20(Moo%20Shoo)%20Pork.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20actually%20made%20it%20twice.%20SeaBass%20loved%20it%20so%20much%20he%20made%20me%20cook%20it%20for%20him%20again%20the%20next%20day%20(sometimes%20I%20feel%20like%20I'm%20in%20a%20relationship%20with%20an%208%20year%20old%20picky%20eater!)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20can't%20really%20blame%20him%20though.%20The%20lily%20flowers%20were%20a%20harmonious%20part%20of%20the%20dish%20but%20definitely%20their%20own%20texture%20and%20level%20of%20flavour%20to%20the%20end%20results.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20with%20all%20Chinese%20recipes%20it%20is%20important%20to%20get%20all%20your%20prep%20done%20ahead%20of%20time%20and%20be%20totally%20prepared%20when%20you%20start%20the%20cooking,%20'cause%20although%20the%20ingredient%20looks%20long%20and%20the%20recipe%20might%20at%20first%20appear%20complicated,%20it's%20actually%20very%20simple.%20And%20things%20move%20incredibly%20quickly%20once%20you%20get%20the%20ball%20rolling.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20together%20all%20marinade%20ingredients%20-%20*add%20cornstarch%20last.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECut%20tenderloin%20into%20thin%20strips%20and%20cover%20with%20marinade.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMarinate%20for%2030%20mins.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20together%20sauce%20ingredients%20-%20add%20cornstarch%20last.%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECover%20lily%20buds%20with%20hot%20water%20and%20allow%20to%20soak%20for%2030%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%2030%20mins.%20drain%20the%20lily%20flowers%20and%20remove%20any%20hard%20tips%20from%20them.%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBeat%20eggs%20with%20salt%20and%20set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20wok%20over%20medium.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%202%20tbsp.%20oil.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20beaten%20eggs%20and%20scramble%20until%20firm.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20eggs%20from%20wok.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWipe%20down%20wok.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%202%20tbsp%20oil%20back%20to%20wok.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20oil%20is%20hot,%20add%20ginger%20and%20fry%20until%20aromatic.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20pork%20and%20stir%20fry%20until%20almost%20cooked%20through.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20pork%20from%20work.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%202%20tbsp.%20oil%20to%20wok.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20hot%20add%20mushrooms%20and%20lily%20buds.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStirfry%20for%20one%20minute.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPush%20ingredients%20to%20side%20of%20wok.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStir%20the%20sauce%20you%20set%20aside%20and%20add%20to%20wok.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStir%20sauce%20quickly%20to%20thicken.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20pork%20back%20to%20wok.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20scrambled%20egg.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20green%20onion.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20all%20ingredients%20together.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServe%20with%
