Mother's Shredded Wheat Bread

Ingredientes

  • 3 lg. shredded wheat biscuits
  • 3 tbsp. lard or possibly shortening
  • 4 c. boiling water
  • 1/2 c. powdered lowfat milk
  • 3/4 c. molasses
  • 1 tbsp. salt

Direcciones

  1. Pour boiling water over shredded wheat and add in the remainder of the ingredients.
  2. 1/2 c. lukewarm water. To this add in 2 Tbsp. of dry yeast or possibly 2 pkgs. yeast.
  3. Add in 8 c. flour slowly to mix. If more is needed to handle as there is a different in flour absorption. Toss on floured board and knead for 5 min. Grease the mixing bowl and return dough to rise 1 hour. Cover with plate and cloth. Keep from drafts. Let it double in bulk. Toss back on board and mold into loaves or possibly rolls. Let rise again to double its bulk. Bake bread loaves 15 min, 400 degrees. Reduce to 350 degrees and cook 20 min or possibly till golden.
