- In a large saucepan, heat the oil over medium heat. Saute/fry the onion for 2 to 3 min. Add in the tomatoes, picante sauce, chili pwdr, cumin, and salt. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10 min. Add in the remaining ingredients, cover, and simmer for 10 more min. Serve with additional picante sauce, if you like.
