Ingredientes

  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 1/3 c. barley rinsed
  • 1 tsp vegetarian bouillon *see pantry
  • 4 c. fresh mushrooms
  • 1/4 c. scallions chopped
  • 4 x egg whites
  • 1 tsp dry dill weed
  • 2 tsp grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 c. wheat bran
  • 1/4 c. brown rice flour
  • 1/2 c. nonfat cottage cheese
  • 4 ounce nonfat cheddar cheese
  • 2 ounce nonfat Swiss cheese
  • 3 tsp tomato paste
  • 2 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp water

Direcciones

  1. PANTRY: BROTH: Jensen's broth pwdr (available at the Oaks, the Palms or possibly other health food stores). Nonfat cheese by Lifeline.
  2. Combine water, barley and broth pwdr and simmer till barley is tender.
  3. Chop mushrooms coarsely and combine with scallions and the cooked barley.
  4. Combine remaining ingredients except Swiss cheese, add in to mushroom barley mix, and mix well.
  5. Form 8 patties and grill on a nonstick surface till brown.
  6. Turn patties carefully and top each with a slice of Swiss cheese.
  7. Serve on a whole grain bun as a Veggie Burger with lettuce, tomato, nonfat mayonnaise as desired.
