%20I%20decided%20enough%20was%20enough...%20we%20had%20to%20try%20cooking%20just%20like%20the%20grown%20ups...!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20first%20thing%20was%20deciding%20what%20to%20make..%20we%20finally%20settled%20on%20payasam%20since%20it%20needed%20no%20cutting%20or%20preparing%20and%20the%20ingredients%20were%20easy%20to%20procure...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENext%20was%20where?%20...%20there%20was%20a%20sort%20of%20shed,%20which%20provided%20cover%20from%20prying%20eyes...%20and%20we%20decided%20the%20cooking%20had%20to%20be%20done%20during%20the%20grandparents%20'%20siesta%20time.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20we%20made%20a%20stove%20with%20three%20bricks,%20got%20a%20pot%20which%20had%20a%20hole%20near%20the%20neck%20area%20and%20the%20rest%20of%20the%20ingredients%20were%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20successfully%20lit%20the%20stove..%20it%20was%20very%20easy%20to%20do%20so%20since%20I%20had%20watched%20my%20Mattemma%20or%20Ammamma%20do%20the%20same%20many%20times,%20kept%20the%20water%20on%20the%20stove%20and%20waited%20for%20it%20to%20boil...%20but%20since%20the%20stove%20was%20very%20tiny%20and%20could%20not%20hold%20much%20fuel,%20it%20took%20forever%20to%20even%20heat..%20so%20we%20added%20the%20wheat%20and%20the%20jaggery%20and%20restlessly%20waited...%20after%20waiting%20for%20what%20seemed%20like%20hours,%20the%20jaggery%20was%20all%20liquid%20and%20bubbling%20away..%20we%20tasted%20it%20and%20found%20it%20very%20sweet%20..so%20I%20added%20the%20milk%20and%20then%20we%20both%20decided%20a%20little%20more%20water%20was%20called%20for....%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20end%20result%20was%20a%20very%20watery,%20lumpy%20(sticky%20cracked%20wheat,%20since%20we%20did%20not%20know%20to%20roast%20it)%20and%20smoky..since%20we%20did%20add%20a%20lot%20of%20dried%20leaves%20for%20the%20fire%20to%20burn%20quickly...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20we%20stirred%20the%20payasam%20with%20a%20stick%20since%20we%20did%20not%20think%20of%20taking%20a%20spoon%20from%20either%20of%20the%20kitchens..!!!%20Finally,%20we%20took%20our%20offering%20to%20our%20grandparents%20...we%20were%20so%20thrilled%20about%20our%20first%20cooking%20effort,%20that%20we%20decided%20to%20chance%20the%20scoldings.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20remember%20my%20grandfather%20exclaiming%20in%20wonder%20that%20it%20was%20the%20best%20payasam%20he%20had%20ever%20tasted,(he%20was%20a%20sweetheart)%20and%20my%20grandma%20grumbling%20about%20fire%20and%20naughty%20kids...%20after%20that%20afternoon,%20my%20grandma%20did%20not%20sleep%20unless%20I%20was%20also%20lying%20down%20beside%20her%20........!!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20had%20posted%20the%20recipe%20of%20Gothambu%20payasam%20earlier...%20but%20when%20Shama%20invited%20me%20to%20the%20'My%20First%20Cooked%20Food%20Event',%20I%20could%20not%20resist%20reliving%20that%20eventful%20day...%20:)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20was%20many%20years%20before%20I%20tried%20making%20the%20payasam%20again...%20but%20by%20then%20I%20knew%20a%20bit%20about%20cooking%20..atleast%20enough%20to%20realise%20that%20you%20didn't%20just%20dump%20everything%20into%20the%20pot%20and%20occasionally%20stir%20it%20....!!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
