Ingredientes

  • 4 lbs navy beans, dry
  • 3 gals boiling water
  • 3 lbs ham, cubes
  • 12 oz chopped onion
  • 8 oz diced celery
  • 1 Tbsp black pepper
  • water

Direcciones

  1. Wash beans.
  2. Add boiling water and cover. Let stand 1 hour or longer.
  3. Simmer beans for about 1 hour.
  4. Add ham and seasonings for beans.
  5. Cook until beans are tender, 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
  6. Add water to make volume of 3 1/4 gal.
  7. Check seasoning. Add salt if needed.
  8. Heat to 180 F.
