Receta Nawabi Veg Biryani
Nawabi Veg Biryani Recipe
A delicious and simple to make Biryani with peas, potatoes, onions and spices. Best served with onion raita.
Ingredients:
- Basmati Rice – 2 cups
- Potatoes – 4 to 5, boiled, peeled, diced
- Cumin Seeds – 2 tsp
- Green Peas – 1 cup, shelled
- Onions – 4, sliced
- Ghee – 3 tblsp
- For the Masala:
- Mint Leaves – 1 cup
- Green Chillies – 5 to 6
- Garam Masala Powder – 1 tsp
- Ginger – 2 inch piece
- Garlic – 4 cloves
- Coconut Milk – 1/2 cup
- Oil – 2 tblsp
Method:
1. Soak the basmati rice in 4 cups of water for 30 to 45 minutes.
2. Heat ghee in a pan over medium flame.
3. Saute the onions, potatoes, cumin seeds and green peas for 2 to 3 minutes.
4. Grind all the masala ingredients with a little water to a smooth paste.
5. Add this to the pan and stir well.
6. Simmer for a minute.
7. Drain the water from rice and add to the pan.
8. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes and pour 4 cups of water.
9. Cover with a lid and simmer for 30 to 45 minutes or until rice is cooked.
10. Serve hot with raita.
Note: You can also add mushrooms, paneer and cashew nuts if desired.
