New York Style Mushroom & Pepperoni Pizza

Use the New York Style Pizza Dough recipe referenced below with these ingredients for a great, kid friendly pizza. The key to great pizza is not too much sauce and not too much cheese, plus a modest amount of high quality ingredients. This New York pizza crust is so good that you don't want to drown it in too many toppings. Anyway..that's my opinion.

Ingredientes

  • 1 New York Style pizza crust
  • 4-6 Tbsp good marinara (I used Trader Joe's tomato basil)
  • 1-2 oz pepperoni
  • 1-2 oz canadian bacon
  • 1-2 oz sliced mushrooms
  • 1-2 cloves garlic, sliced thinly (if your kids like it)
  • 10-12 leaves of basil, torn
  • 2-4 oz grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1-2 oz grated parmesan cheese
  • Sprinklings of bread crumbs or corn meal

Direcciones

  1. Preheat the oven to 425-450 F and place a pizza stone on the top shelf with a spinkling of breadcrumbs or corn meal on it. Place your 12 inch crust on a pizza pan or cookie sheet with a sprinkling of fine bread crumbs or corn meal underneath (to prevent sticking). Lightly fold the crust under around the edges to form a pillow. Add the marinary and spread evenly. It should cover all but the very edge of the crust, but it is ok if it is a light film in some areas. Add the garlic (if desired), basil and mozzarella. Then spread the pepperoni, canadian bacon, and mushrooms evenly around the pizza. Lastly add the grated parmesan.
  2. Place the pizza pan or cookie sheet in the middle shelf. Let it cook for 10-12 minutes. Then remove the pizza from the pan and place it on the pizza stone (I used two spatulas). Cook for an additional 5-6 minutes or until crust is golden brown but not burned.
  3. Let rest for 3-5 minutes then slice and serve with more parmesan and crushed red peppers. Yum!
