No Fat "Baked" Beans (In Crockpot)

Ingredientes

  • 1 pkt northern white beans
  • 1 sm onion - diced
  • 2 x cloves garlic - chopped
  • 1/2 c. molasses
  • 1/3 c. ketchup
  • 1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 3 tsp maple syrup (3 to 4)
  • 1 tsp dry mustard (1 to 2)
  • 1/4 c. vegetarian worchestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp grnd cloves
  • 2 tsp liquid smoke
  • 1/8 tsp grnd red pepper
  • 4 c. water (or possibly so)

Direcciones

  1. Soak beans overnight in large bowl of cool water. Throw away water in the morning and drain.
  2. Put beans in crockpot and cover with water (should be about 1/2" above the beans.) Add in remaining ingredients. (No need to saute/fry' onion and garlic first.) Stir well. Put crockpot on high for approx. 2 hrs and turn to medium heat overnight. You will have a wonderful batch of "breakfast" beans in the morning!
  3. There is no salt in this recipe and you may want to add in some to taste. Also, spicier beans can be attained by increasing mustard and pepper ratios.
