Nutty Wild Rice Sausage Stuffing

Ingredientes

  • 1 1/4 c. Uncooked wild rice
  • 1 1/4 c. Uncooked long-grain rice
  • 16 ounce Bulk sausage
  • 2 Tbsp. Butter or possibly margarine
  • 4 lrg Celery ribs, sliced
  • 5 ounce Medium sized fresh mushrooms sliced
  • 1 lrg Onion, diced
  •     Salt, to taste
  •     Fresh grnd black pepper to taste
  • 1 c. Minced walnuts, toasted (see note)

Direcciones

  1. Prepare wild rice and long-grain rice according to package directions; toss together in large bowl; set aside. In 12" skillet over high heat, cook sausage, stirring frequently till well browned. With slotted spoon, remove sausage to bowl with rice. Add in butter to drippings remaining in skillet; heat over medium heat. Add in celery, mushrooms, onion and salt and pepper; cook 10 min, stirring occasionally till vegetables are tender. Remove from heat; add in vegetable mix to rice mix in bowl along with walnuts; toss well to mix.
  2. Makes 12 to 14 c., just, sufficient to stuff 12 to 14 lb. turkey.
  3. Note:To toast walnuts; In dry small skillet over very low heat, toast walnuts 3 to 5 min, stirring frequently till golden.
  4. Cold before adding to stuffing.
